#1: 2.0 Hdi fuel filter Author: adam_16v, Location: KentPosted: Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:18 pm ---- Seems im full of questions this week after being off ill.
Going to service the hdi this weekend and I keep reading varying advise on changing the diesel filter.
Can somone point me to a guide for the 2.0 hdi? Or offer any advise.
Where is it exactly?
Thanks

#3: Re: 2.0 Hdi fuel filter Author: SDK206, Location: Earth, most of the time!!Posted: Tue Mar 08, 2011 2:30 pm ---- aftermarket filters are usually just the paper element inside whereas dealers will supply with the whole lothousing included, but not worth it.
just be careful when slackening off the housing's lid, they can crack and break if brute force is used
#4: Re: 2.0 Hdi fuel filter Author: eddrj, Location: BerkshirePosted: Tue Mar 08, 2011 3:04 pm ---- I know where it is the black filter housing bit at front of engine in there but ,
i want to know how to do this too, there should be a how to...
on here for this ive looked but there is for another 206 but not 2.0 hdi one , would be really helpful.
#5: Re: 2.0 Hdi fuel filter Author: qwert, Location: ukPosted: Tue Mar 08, 2011 5:00 pm ---- Undo the drain screw to empty the diesel. Unclip the fuel pipes, then take the lid off
#6: Re: 2.0 Hdi fuel filter Author: Kersh, Location: Bridgnorth, Nr WolverhamptonPosted: Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:33 am ---- you have to prime the fuel system when its all re-assembled
#7: Re: 2.0 Hdi fuel filter Author: eddrj, Location: BerkshirePosted: Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:35 am ---- how do you get them two main pipes off the housing to get at it ?
just pull them off or turn them or ...??
is there any other parts you need to renew aswell as the filter
#8: Re: 2.0 Hdi fuel filter Author: Kersh, Location: Bridgnorth, Nr WolverhamptonPosted: Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:37 am ---- iirc correctly there's a sort of release button on the pipe that has to be squeezed. been ages since i had mine though. watch out for a bit of fuel p**sing out those pipes
just the filter needs renewing, its a simple enough procedure
#9: Re: 2.0 Hdi fuel filter Author: eddrj, Location: BerkshirePosted: Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:41 am ---- ok thanks , may sound stupid but how do you stop fuel from p**sing outta pipes or dont matter that much,
Do you need some sorta pliers or things to block pipes for a min or just let a bit run out ?

i think i just let it run out but try to keep them pointing upwards or something so that it doesnt go p**sing all over the place, its not a constant stream just build up in the pipes, run it off into a jam jar if you want.
if you want to block the pipes stick some kitchen roll in there, i recommend this so that no dust or anything gets into the pipe as well..

#13: Re: 2.0 Hdi fuel filter Author: eddrj, Location: BerkshirePosted: Wed Mar 09, 2011 3:01 am ---- no i wont re use it lol
do you have to put bit of diesel in with filter ?
then heard you need to start it about 6 times for it to be alrit is this rite
#14: Re: 2.0 Hdi fuel filter Author: eddrj, Location: BerkshirePosted: Wed Mar 09, 2011 3:07 am ---- One more question soz for the million questions,
but how often does this need doing aswell
#15: Re: 2.0 Hdi fuel filter Author: Kersh, Location: Bridgnorth, Nr WolverhamptonPosted: Wed Mar 09, 2011 3:12 am ---- there's a bleed screw/valve on the housing, you unscrew that slightly. then get someone to turn the ignition on but dont start the car, you will hear the fuel pump whiring, while it does this watch the valve you will see bubbles of diesel where the air is being pushed out, do this a few times (5 or so) and then do the bleed screw back up
all air is now gone from the fuel pipes.
and i did it every service just becuase they are cheap as chips, diesel is horrible dirty stuff and my car had done over 120k
