#1: cooling/ overheating problem... Author: robdob, Location: oxfordPosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:56 pm ---- ive checked tht the fan works, checked all levels of coolant, new temp sensor, thermostat... been told its possible tht could be the fan cut in switch? or maybe the radiator cooling fan relay?? basically, when in traffic etc and the car begins to over heat the fan doesn't cut in... im scared the headgaskets guna warp n cost me more money... help please
#2: Re: cooling/ overheating problem... Author: Seabook, Posted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 5:17 pm ---- how do you check the fan is working? by turning the A/C on?
starting the car and let it idle for a while until temp reaches 90, fan should kick in, if not, replace the relay
and what do you mean by the car start to overheat? what temp did it reach?

,and if the temp is 90 or a bit more, then don't worry, because fan will kick in after 90
#4: Re: cooling/ overheating problem... Author: robdob, Location: oxfordPosted: Fri Mar 11, 2011 2:10 am ---- Took the fan out and put power across it... Umm I was stuck in traffic so way way way over what it shudve been so much so tht I had steam coming out the engine bay :(. So u suggest relay for sure??
#5: Re: cooling/ overheating problem... Author: glenpring, Location: KENTPosted: Fri Mar 11, 2011 2:59 am ---- i have this on mine i have had garages look at it and they cant work it out so i think i have put the down to something in the ecu being wrong my car dont have relay and i have changed everything to do with the cooling fan
(fan control, fan, thermostat, even down to changing the loom)

1) turn on the a/c too see if the fan kicks in.
2) turn off a/c and let the car idle until 90 degree to see if the fan kicks in.
if 1=true, 2=false then is relay
if 1=2=false then check the wiring
if 1=2=true then maybe block coolant pipe, water pump or whatso ever

#8: Re: cooling/ overheating problem... Author: Lewis1304, Location: NuneatonPosted: Fri Mar 11, 2011 6:29 am ---- I have the same problem, I have managed to get hold of 2 new relays, whole new wiring loom for fan and new resistor, £67 from peugeot for lot (friend works there so discount included) Im going to try this too. my A/C doesnt make the fan come on either, however the fan kicks in when it gets to red at full speed.

looks like false relay?
since the fan is 2 speed, a/c normal turn on the fan at low speed only.

#12: Re: cooling/ overheating problem... Author: Lewis1304, Location: NuneatonPosted: Fri Mar 11, 2011 6:39 am ---- hehe well im changing the loom aswell, had a problem where the wire had coroded to green so cut and snip and fitted relay and it worked for a while, I went on a long drive to wales and it stopped working, i have since had digital climate control conversion from manual a/c which looks smart, I just wanna use it to its full potential now!

#14: Re: cooling/ overheating problem... Author: Lewis1304, Location: NuneatonPosted: Fri Mar 11, 2011 7:10 am ---- Well I will change the lot to make sure will the resistor affect the air con too?
