#1: Wiring in new headunit/amp/sub HELP Author: 75Jess, Location: N.I.Posted: Sun Mar 20, 2011 1:26 pm ---- I have all the wiring in place for my amp & sub in the boot,
ie remote lead up the centre of the car, power along the left hand side, and RCA along the right
I have a new JVC headunit which i tried to connect up today, but I havent a clue where to connect in the 'remote wire' coming from the amp.
Ive attached a few photographs and hopefully someone out there can be of assistance!
The two plastic blocks were simply unclipped from the original headunit, and can be plugged into the new one.
The two thick blue leads also just plug into the headunit, as does the black one(aerial)
However its the thin blue lead that has nowhere to go
Please help!

It turns the amp on when the HU is powered on along with the battery so the amp isn't always on and drains your battery. In the first picture there are lots of wires coming out of the HU into the loom, one of them needs to be cut and wired to the remote cable instead. It's normally a blue cable as well, I don't know how you would go around finding out which one you need but there's some info that might help.

cut the blue cable and connect to your remote cable....

#5: Re: Wiring in new headunit/amp/sub HELP Author: micka, Location: leicestershirePosted: Sun Mar 20, 2011 5:16 pm ---- The thin blue remote wire goes to a wire that should be sticking out of your headunit with power antenna written on it, it is a blue and white striped wire, that's how I got mine working perfectly, I have a kenwood headunit but on your headunit it may be a blue wire, the wire should come dirextly out of your headunit and not the iso block! That's how mine was anyway
But if not, once you buy your iso block from halfords it will allow you to keep the memory in your headunit and there should be a blue wire there so jusr splice it and attach the remote wire and let the bass kick! Last edited by micka on Sun Mar 20, 2011 5:22 pm; edited 1 time in total

#7: Re: Wiring in new headunit/amp/sub HELP Author: 75Jess, Location: N.I.Posted: Mon Mar 21, 2011 5:49 am ---- So do I need to buy this ISO block from Halfords?
Or do i just splice into the blue wire in my existing wiring loom?
(there are at least 2 blue wires in there) How will I know which one?
I have no wires sticking out from the headunit, just what you see in the photo

The easiest way would be to buy the iso block, then when you modify the block you aren't cutting into the OEM loom and it's a lot more obvious what wire to cut.

I think it even says in your handbook. Just splice the wire into that. take your 12v from battery or the feed in the fuse box in the engine bay which is were most take there's from. And earth from the seat bolts or there is one next to the interior boot light your gonna need a aerial adapter too which you can pick up for a fiver from halfords

So if i leave this out altogether, the amp only comes on when I turn the ignition? Or what?

what lee is saying is that you could find a permanent live feed and draw power from that, so if your key is removed from the car you can have it playing as long as you want
or
find ignition feed to only have power when key is turned
