#1: Leak help please Author: lee007, Location: leicesterPosted: Tue Mar 29, 2011 1:43 pm ---- Had gearbox replaced at the weekend and new clutch fitted. Gearbox now works correctly and not dropping third gear. Now I have a water leak from the back of the engine area. Beam across bottom of engine bay has dripping water which tastes of antifreeze.
What is likely to have been damaged or knocked in the process of swapping gearboxes please.
By beam it is a round pole thing running horizontaly between the wheels.
Any help thanks.
Also could a Gearbox change cause the battery light to come on or is the alternator about to annoy me too.

The water leak could be a number of things, because they would have had to remove the gearbox mounts and tilt the engine to get the box out.
They could have pulled on the hose that goes from the bottom of the header tank to the water rail that runs along the back of the engine or the ones that go to the heater matrix ad they could be leaking.
Or the hose could have pulled tight and pulled the water rail out of the water pump or thermostat housing slightly, Or it could just be coincidence and the pump could be leaking.
The battery light could be a bad earth or bad conection to the alternator. Last edited by benashley on Tue Mar 29, 2011 2:02 pm; edited 1 time in total

Just wondering if they have done something to cause battery light to be slightly on as i wasn't before it went in.
I guess could be a perished pipe as it is 9 years old and being pulled about could have split but annoying as it has to go back just when I was looking forward to using it with a good gearbox.
