Take off the oil filler cap. Is there a mayonaise like substance in it?
Also check the coolant cap for it.

Then it's a head gasket failure.

Can cost up to £1000

Cheapest solution would be to swap the engine for a good one. You can pick up 1.4 engines for £150 or a bit more for a good one.

Think the going price for a head gasket is around 400-450 quid it's very labour intensive, engine replacement could be a better option.

I know a guy in Abertillery that will do it for loads less. Obviousley he'll get the head skimmed etc. Drop me a pm if u like and i'll give him a ring for you, see how much he'll charge.

I had a 1.4 petrol with a TU3JP engine do a headgasket and it cost me about £300

You can't get a proper diagnosis on the internet anyway really, so do you know anyone that could take a look at it? and ONLY a look to offer you a professional opinion?

True, you can get a proper diagnosis on the internet but you can get a fair idea where to start. I would get it looked at if your not sure what your looking for. My mate owns a garage in South Griffin Terrace. If you head towards Abertillery from Brynmawr, just pasy Blaina on the right there a turning on the right. Follow that road and you'll come to his garage. He's not some back street place. He's a good guy and wont rip you blind either.

Full service? Plugs will be coming out anyway, oil and water would both have to be changed. Halfway to a full service already. Ask him to throw a new timing belt and water pump on in the price. It will save you having to pay again in a couple of years.
