#1: Comms Unit Author: lana, Location: teessidePosted: Wed Apr 06, 2011 3:39 pm ---- Looking for a bit of advice.
Had a reconditioned unit fitted, however the car will not start with reconditioned comms unit fitted.
I sent chassis number and reg to supplier to ensure i purchased correct part.
When the old comms unit refitted it starts fist time.
When i had it fitted i gave garage spare key not fob key could this make any difference?,
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

#3: Re: Comms Unit Author: lana, Location: teessidePosted: Wed Apr 06, 2011 3:55 pm ---- That's what i thought, however i will not start.
Have been advised to have the key recoded but don't know if that would make a difference.

perhaps the recon unit has a short in the wiring?
#5: Re: Comms Unit Author: lana, Location: teessidePosted: Wed Apr 06, 2011 4:08 pm ---- Pre 2001 don't.
The comm unit on models after that control wipers, lights, immobiliser and anything else they could attach i think.
#6: Re: Comms Unit Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Wed Apr 06, 2011 4:10 pm ---- Immobilser is in the BSI and the ring is around the ignition barrel
Do you have esp?
#7: Re: Comms Unit Author: lana, Location: teessidePosted: Wed Apr 06, 2011 4:14 pm ---- No Does not have esp the car is 03 reg 1.4lx.
#8: Re: Comms Unit Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Wed Apr 06, 2011 4:36 pm ---- Yeah I gunna go with Skard and say the recon one is dodgey because the Com's are interchangable and nothing to do with the immobilser or starting the car.
Dodgey com sending wrong signals to the BSI, will put it into some sort of protective mode and cause problems.
