#1: Rear brake load sensing valve Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Fri Apr 15, 2011 5:11 am ---- My pug failed mot and one of the problems was
'rear brake load sensing valve linkage defective'
I had no idea so asked the mot guy what it meant and he said there should be a spring outside the drum brake that had somehow gone missing on one side.
I've jacked up the car, looked on both drums and I can't see anything of the sort. Also looked on the service box but can't see any external springs (a lot on the inside).
Can't find anymore information on it, can anyone help me?
If it's any help it's because of this that my rear brakes were hardling doing anything.

#3: Re: Rear brake load sensing valve Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Fri Apr 15, 2011 5:35 am ---- Going to have to if I can't find one gonna have a really good look now. Done a bit of research and I think I know what they are. He said it's somehow popped off so I should get one from a scrappy or it could end up costing a lot for a new valve from pug. Doesn't sound like it's internal?
#4: Re: Rear brake load sensing valve Author: Kersh, Location: Bridgnorth, Nr WolverhamptonPosted: Fri Apr 15, 2011 6:04 am ---- if hes on about the slave cylinder or whatever its called, thats mounted inside the drum but there's a pipe going into it, thats the only thing i can think of thats on the drum externally..
then again, its ages since i had a drum brake 206
#5: Re: Rear brake load sensing valve Author: smiddies, Location: BrightonPosted: Fri Apr 15, 2011 6:22 am ---- Yer I had a fail at this once, didnt have a clue what it was, tried searching for it, but in the end had to pay £300 for them to fit one to pass the MOT!
No doubt I did get bent over, but I couldnt find anything about it!
This was last years MOT! This year with my rear discs, no problem, so may only be on drums!
#6: Re: Rear brake load sensing valve Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Fri Apr 15, 2011 6:47 am ---- Cheers for the help I thought it was weird, probably because I was looking in the wrong place. Can't wait to get rid of drums
@smiddies that's what I was worried about having to replace the whole unit
Found it in the end it's not actually near the brakes it's on the drivers side axle which brake lines go to both sides which makes sense as the spring was broken both brakes barely did anything.
Got it in service box as well. Phoned up pug and they want £90 for the whole unit :/ then there's going to be labour fitting as well..
So I need to get one from a scrapyard somewhere, if someone has the spring spare please let me know.

#11: Re: Rear brake load sensing valve Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri Apr 15, 2011 2:47 pm ---- Ahhhh the joys of having EBD on your 206, no rear brake compensator valve to worry about
#12: Re: Rear brake load sensing valve Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Fri Apr 15, 2011 3:08 pm ---- Bit of wd40 Ben and a bit of leverage
What's ebd mate?
I have a gti axle axle with abs, haven't looked if it's got one on. If so could it fit? Highly unlikely but worth a shot.
Erm, you can have the whole unit, when i find out if i need to keep it or not! lol (when i get the answer to my posted question i'll have your answer)
#15: Re: Rear brake load sensing valve Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Sat Apr 16, 2011 10:52 am ---- I see mr_bsi, had a look at my abs xsi and had no such thing
