A friend of mine has a 2000 206 gti 138 bhp which was recently rear ended, the damage is mostly cosmetic, and the car is still running fine.
He has offered the car to me for cheap and so I was wondering if it were possible to use his car as a donor and put his engine into my 1999 1.4 LX, and if so what parts would have to be changed?

can see why brakes would need changing, but why suspension? wouldn't that be optional depending on how u would want it to ride?

If the damage is mostly cosmetic your better off selling your 1.4lx then just repairing the gti. If you've modded the exterior of your 1.4 itd probably still be better to swap over + respray if need be the parts to the gti

heavier engine will need the different shocks to compensate.

and GTi suspension is firmer on the rear anyway so you may as well Smile

the 1.4 LX was an ex show car and has had both work done on the exterior and interior; back seats have been removed and replaced with a custom fibre glass box holding 6 12" subs and 5 amps (which can't be removed without damaging the box). And i've just recently spent quite a bit getting everything to look mint again, which why I was wondering about the engine swap.

if you can do it urself then is fine.

bsi, wire loom, engine, ecu, gearbox, front strut, whole exhuast system,

not even sure if the engine mounting point is the same.

Has anyone on the forum put a 2.0 gti into a 1.4, or does anyone know if the engine mounting point is the same?
