Im the 2nd owner as of October 2009

Owned my 206 from the age of 17 for two years!

Managed to get it looking ace imo, then ruined it with the anthracite wheels! The white ones were always the best!!

Caught the proper modding bug back at FCS08 and carried it on from there Smile

Then it tranfsormed into this...

Then after putting the anthracite wheels on, i decided i wasnt that keen on the car, and the 1.4 engine wasnt exactly exciting, despite the great suspension!

Started putting my pennies away, put the car back to standard, sold it for £3950 and bought this for £6650. :

(Paste)

Finally got it! The car is amazing!

I drove from Birmingham to Sarf East Landan! Took the stupidly long route through the centre of London instead of going around the M25 like the bloke recommended, completely forgot that he gave me hinters!

Its a 2005 plate (Registered July 05)
Im the second owner
Racing Blue
36,000 Miles
Both Cup packs (Missing Front splitter)

Insurance was friendlier than i was quoted a month ago which i was happy about, especially being 19!

Have currently done 280 miles and am still on the first tank, have done some spirited driving as you would when you first get a car like this!!

Absolutely love it, now ill be able to stop bangin on about getting one!

Havent got any decent pics yet, but these are the ones he sent me on the day i picked it up. It looks better in the flesh, and will look better when i get some nice pics!

Better Pics will be up soon when ive given it a wash!

These arent nice photos, the car is filthy but they get the point across! Will clean it in a couple of weeks when the snow has cleared!

Had my exhaust fitted by Fred at BTM Performance, then noticed the poor state of my brakes so had those ordered and fitted a couple of weeks later!

Will get some clean photos up soon Smile

Cambelt and 36k service next!

Brembo Discs and Ferodo DS2500s. Smile

Going to sort out everything else first!

Came across what appeared a fairly normal silver 182 the other day, had a chat and it appears it was superchargerd. F*******K me it was fast! 230bhp and 200 lbft of torque!! Wow!

Collected and fitted today. MUCH harder to fit seats into a Clio than a 206, especially when changing the runners etc.

Look amazing in real life, will get some updated and clean photos of the car on the weekend Smile

Member from Cliosport who works in a bodyshop is doing all the spraying, some of his work his really good.

Normal seats are in the photos on page 1 i think, nothing special, not very comfortable either.

Awesome Dave TBH.... one reason I like the Trophy's is for the Recaro's, just makes the car that bit more special, a bit like GTI-180 seats do in the 206.

#28: Re: Daves Renaultsport Clio 182 - Racing Blue Author: Dave, Location: Birmingham PostPosted: Thu Feb 25, 2010 12:52 pm

I prefer these to the trophy seats. More 'special' aswell. These are the trophy ones and they sell on average for around £850 which is silly imo. I paid £500 for mine.

Gave the 182 a thorough clean yesterday!

  • Washed using Dodo Juice Shampoo
  • Clayed (Desperately Needed)
  • Hand Polished with Vanilla Clearkote Hand Polish
  • Waxed with Collinite 476
  • Engine Bay had a little scrub down but didnt spend much effort there, will be when i have the new engine cover back from Nathj though!

Recaro's were from a member on CS selling up, he also fitted them for me very kindly!

It started raining before i had chance to do the roof, i had clayed, polished and waxed the rest of the car, but wanted to do the roof last. Ended up not doing it, but it will get done soon. This shows the beading after 2 minutes between the spoiler and roof! lol

What i think i will eventually do, is debadge the Clio sign, leaving a hole, then debadge the Renaultsport sign.

Then buy the Clio 197 Renaultsport badge and put it on the Clio sign. Calum had done it to his, not thaaat many fans of the mod over on CS, but i think it looks great. Smile

Im not sure which trackdays i want to go to yet. CS are going in April, they havent put much up about the one in July other than a date and a bit of sh*t chat.

The one in July is just before my holiday + during the world cup so wont be at that one. Oulton is one of the tracks i want to go to though!

Ill do a bit of research/look around when i get the chance to see which ones i fancy!

Let me know if there's any local PoT meets!

Eh? They're different wheels made by different companies, they're both different designs Confused Laughing .

Turini's are nice though, think white would look particularly good against Racing Blue Dave Smile

Yeah I know that. I am not stupid as I work with wheels daily. So why not get 1.2's? lol They look pretty much the same.

The Pro races look cheaper imo and im not as keen on the style of the spokes. Smile They look good on some cars, but imo, dont suit the 182!

Suspension next anyway! Smile

Finally got some new pics of the small updates. NathJ painted a few bits and bobs. He also did the gear knob insert but i decided i wasnt keen on that and have swapped it back for a standard one. Smile

Decided to debadge the complete rear end, and replace the Clio badge with the pin holes, with the Renaultsport badge from the 197. I feel as if the old style 'Clio' badge gives the car a slightly more dated look. The steering wheel decal is on, ballsed up the airbag one though. Will get it sorted soon.

New Rear End.

Before

After

New Engine Bay Cover

Im aiming to sort the metals out next. Think they will either be polished, or sprayed a very light high power silver. Smile This will be the next update on the way, most likely next week.

Not really, it costs far too much to squeeze extra bhp out of the Clio engine. If i did, id be looking at ITBs, which i cant afford! Lol

Suspension will get sorted though. Smile

We will have to organise a small 'Midland Old Boys' meet soon, Me, You, Jamie, Ross and those who have moved on from the 206 world. Cough not Jamie. Lol! Country lanes your way would be great!

Have decided to sell the Recaro's. They will be going on Saturday for the same price i paid. Theyre a bit annoying with the winding mechanism rather than the flip up/down mechanism in a normal hatch. Im also just not 100% on them, so i want to get rid and will spend a bit of the £500 on tarting the car up a bit more.

More updates coming in about a month. Smile

Get some 197 seats in there? Or some trophy seats?
You best be spending all that £500 on the car, I just spent more than that on brakes Sad

A bit will be going on my holiday, the rest on the car + other bits and bobs. Gambled my way out of my overdraft last weekend. Won £150 profit between Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Lost £10 of that on Arsenal today though.

Have bought a new gadget for the car aswell. Ill put a pic up in a sec. Smile

Cost £28 with the memory card and all posted. Good quality, going to have a play over the weekend. Bit cheaper than those cr*p GoPro ones. Razz Joking. Would love that, but my wallet loves this!

You've gotta be brave (or just loaded) to spend a four figure sum on some coilovers... I couldn't bring myself to pay £600+ for KW's. Surely you can get some top quality ones for the Clio for a lot less than a grand though? I guess it depends if you want adjustable damping etc though!

Well, the seats were sold today. Was never 100% on them, they were a bit too hard and i think my back was slightly too wide for them. That and i wanted the money.

Going to buy a splitter soon. Not sure wether to spend £100 on a carbon fibre one or a standard Skoda plastic one for £10 lol. The CF one looks sooooo nice, but ouch at the price difference (Most people snap theirs very often) Sad

Thought i'd freshen up the Calipers in using Silver Hammerite. More than happy with the finish Smile

VERY annoyed that i could'not undo the rear passenger side locking bolt. Looks like i may have to take a trip to Fred and his boys next door as i don't want to make things worse. Im far from weak and that thing is not budging! Sad So still need to do the rear passenger side caliper!

Cleaned the wheels while i was at it and gave them two layers of Poorboys wheel sealant Smile

The drivers side front wheel had thick gunge in it (inside of alloy), kind of oily. Front Discs and Pads were changed over Christmas time by Fred and didn't notice it then, didn't really look though tbh. F*ck knows where it came from, but two cloths later and a bit of old sponge and it's all gone!

The car doesn't have drums? Calipers front and rear and i painted them all. (Bar one due to the locking wheel nut not removing)

Ape wrote:

Have done some research and that's what i was told it would most likely be. Think i'm going to pop the wheel off tomorrow and have a look! If i can't find it, then ill pop it over to Fred@BTM. Should be able to sort it though! Think im going to go there to sort the rear wheel nut out anyway!

You don't, if you can feel the boots split by discovering grease, you get a new boot and then the wheel comes off to replace, along with a few other bits

Just been looking through my Renault Clio sales brochures [which I was planning to put on eBay].

I have a June 2005 brochure for the RenaultSport range, including Clio 182 & 182 Cup.
I also have a 5th July 2005 pricelist, including the 182, with Cup suspension pack option & Cup spoiler pack option.

If you're interested in purchasing the above items [seeing as yours was registered on 18th July 2005], PM me Very Happy

Sorry about that,I said the wrong word, were thinking of something else while i wrote the comments, what I wanted to ask is why you didn't changed the disks for drilled or groved disks??,but the paint is very nice,i thought you had a new calipers Smile

I came across these earlier and don't know if they'll interest you or not but SPEEDLINE 2118 would be ideal if you can get them cheap and refurb them how you want.

Not bad, although i prefer the plate to fill the recess ouut, rather than leave the gaps. Smile Silver + Silver Turinis is an awesome match!

I will probably take the badges off when i machine polish the car when i get round to buying a Machine polisher,

Think i am going to put the Clio badge back on and maybe buy another 197 badge to go on the left. Still doesnt look bad, but i want it perfect. Smile

Exhaust is going back to standard as of the 5th of January. I want the peace and quiet when driving around without looking like a chav. Seems I may have grown up a slight bit.

CF Badge and Tow Eye also off, So the car is pretty much standard other than the HU, Engine Cover and 197 badge.
