hello peeps,

I posted a week ago about an annoying plastic rattle/tapping sound I had at on the front drivers side of my car. I though it was the wheel arch liners so replace the clips which has made them all tight and as i was putting the wheel back on I noticed a little ceramic (i think) cover which had cracked and was loose around a brake pipe and what could have been a bleed nipple? I moved it and it was the exact noise but it pretty much broke off in my hand.

I assume because of the material that it is some kind of heat shield for the brake line where it connects to the calliper, but is it really needed? I bodged it back together with super glue and put it back on but having checked the other side, this has large bit missing where it had obviously cracked before at some point. Going on the dirt and crap on it i would say it happened a very long time ago without anyone noticing.

Do you think this part is something i should be worrying about and replacing properly? It loks like a part that would be surprisingly expensive from a main dealer

Probably not overly important but worth picking up from the scrappy for sure.
