BSI is the Built in Systems Interface which is the software driven computer brain that has overall control of all the cars electrical systems Wink

Shut the BSI down safely before touching those connectors.

Is there a set way of shutting down the BSI then? Is it not a case of just disconnecting the battery?

I've found it by doing a quick search of the forum Wink

Ok so I've disconnected the ECU and cleaned up the connectors with electrical contact cleaner.

All back together so we'll have to see how it goes.

I'll phone the local Peugeot dealer tomorrow to see about an ECU/BSI update.

Did you find any nasty / crusty silicone grease there?

Nope it looked pretty clean. I sprayed the connectors just to be sure though.

I've booked the car into a Peugeot garage for them to do a diagnostic test, 30 minutes labour (to fix any probs they might be able to do in the 30 mins) and to update the ECU software.

67 notes. Confused

Well the wife was driving the car again today and had a boat load of problems.

Car is stalling a lot now with the temp gauge going up to 100 and then down to under 70. The engine feels like it is pulling you back all the time.

The engine management light flckers on and off alot also.

Do you think its still an ECU fault guys?

Well the car has been to the Peugeot garage and had a diagnostic test done. It showed only one fault which was a 'Coolant temp sensor fault in multi-function display'.

They also carried out an ECU download and update.

& guess what on the way home it stalled about 4 times. This was when the engine was warm so I am thinking it may be the coolant temp sensor. What yer reckon guys?

To be honest I am not very impressed with Peugeot, you would atleast think the mechanic would have come out for a chat but no leave it to the receptionist.

More than happy to take the 67 quid off me and it felt like "there yer go kid see how you go"..................

Yeah I'll take a look at the coolant temp sensor and I might clean the MAF sensor while I'm at it.

Well I cleaned the MAF sensor but to be honest it didnt look that bad. I havent replaced the coolant temp sensor but I did clean the electrical contacts.

Went out for a drive and initially its fine but it seems to cut out when the temp is just above 90C. The engine does not misfire or anything it simply just cuts out.

I am really started to get a bit peeved off with it now. Nobody seems to have a clue as to exactly what it might be and as you can see from my previous posts I have changed quite a few parts.

The only things that I havent renewed is the coolant temp sensor. I see there are a number of other sensors on the car is it worth looking at any of these? I read somewhere there are 2 coolant temp sensors one for the gauge and one for the ECU, is this true?

I also read there are relays at the bottom of the radiator and a travelling/speed sensor.

I am open to all ideas as I dont want to part ex the car just yet Very Happy

I've fitted a new coolant temp sensor so will see how it goes......
