#1: 206 SW 1.4 Engine Cutting Out Author: finners, Location: West Yorkshire PostPosted: Mon May 09, 2011 12:16 pm

Hi guys,
My first post here after reading quite a lot on the problem I am having.

My car is experiencing the cutting out problem which has happened twice now both whilst the car was travelling between 30 and 40 mph. It seems to loose all power with no drive to the wheels but the rev counter still moves.

I have removed the ICV to give it a clean but I have either damaged it or it was already damaged beforehand I'm not sure. The plunger came out in my hand as I was testing it going in and out. I've probably been a bit heavy handed.

Anyroad I have ordered a new (replacement) one off eBay: -
cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBay...K:MEWNX:IT

The one I removed had this written on it: - SB35/00 S1684
& the one I bought is B35/00 so the guy said it should be ok.

I should receive it tomorrow so fingers crossed it works and that was the problem in the 1st place.

The new ICV turned up today and it seems to work fine. I suppose time will tell if that has fixed the problem or not.

On a side note I was going to change the fuel filter as its never been changed in the time I have owned the car.

I was just wondering whereabouts it was.

Is it within the fuel tank on these cars or under the seats somewhere?

The car is a 1.4litre, 54 plate.

Its a self cleaning unit inside the tank, leave it alone is the official Peugeot answer Wink

I have been reading that it might be the coil pack causing the problem. I am assuming this is quite an expensive part and was wondering if there was any way of making sure it was working ok, i.e can it be cleaned or serviced?

I have just ordered some new Bosch Super 4 spark plugs and as you have to remove the coil pack to get to the plugs I thought I might as well ask.

cheers Smile

When you remove the coil pack, see if it has SAGEM on it as the makers name, if it has you need a new coil.

I get the feeling your gonna find some nasty NGK spark plugs fitted Wink

Bouricord OR Electrofil

Match the colour of the connector plug up on your car, it will be either grey or black, they aint interchangeable!

There is also a wiring mod to look for.

There is a supressor fitted to pin 4 of the coil pack connector plug.

Peugeot / Citroen part number 6555 K9

Are these makes available on eBay do you know or do I need to source them from elsewhere?

Also with this Mod you mention will the new coil pack have this already or is this something extra I need to do myself?

Thanks

The supressor mod depends on what was done on the car under the 3 year Peugeot warranty when it was new, if it went back for running issues then it might already be fitted, it might already have a decent coil pack on it.

Until you have a look I cant say.

Dont buy a new coil pack until you have looked at the one already fitted on your engine.

Thanks for the info MrBSI, I hopefully should get my new spark plugs tomorrow so I will take a look then.

btw I went out in the car earlier and it started to stall again whilst I was doing very low speeds. The engine light came on and it appeared like it was going to stall but didnt, but on other occasions it did.

So it might not have been the ICV fault in the first place.

Could be software

Could be silicone on the engine ecu connectors, Peugeot put this on at the factory to stop corrosion BUT it hardens as it ages & cause electrical problems so the advice is to clean it of again, give them a good squirt with brake cleaner.

Could be NGK spark plugs.

I now have my Bosch Super 4 plugs and will fit them tomorrow.

One thing I noticed on the box it says the electrode gap is pre set. I read somewhere it needs to be 0.9, so I was wondering if I have to set the gap myself or just leave them as is?

Yeah you can just leave them. iirc Super 4's can't be adjusted anyway.
