Author: bigtony85, Location: NottinghamPosted: Sun May 15, 2011 3:46 am ---- hay guys yet again my gti 180 is playing up. been reading tho all the post on here and im thinking its the vvt solenoid. but just fort i would check with everyone b4 i commit my self to a new one. basically my car feels like a 1.1 (could not even keep up with my mate in his 1.6 focus even tho i normally kill him) feels sluggish and there is no induction noise that i used to have. ive had the solenoid out and cleaned it and made no diff. could the solenoid hav completely packed up?? btw no fault codes present ether.

#3: Re: vvt???? Author: bigtony85, Location: NottinghamPosted: Sun May 15, 2011 3:55 am ---- even if the vvt is jammed???
#4: Re: vvt???? Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Sun May 15, 2011 3:59 am ---- Yea should do, as soon as a malfunction is detected it should throw up a code, although the Engine Management light won't necessarily come on. Mine did it a few times but changed the solenoid and all is ok now, although the symptoms aren't the same as yours.
#5: Re: vvt???? Author: bigtony85, Location: NottinghamPosted: Sun May 15, 2011 4:11 am ---- how much 4 a solenoid and i take its a pug only part??
#6: Re: vvt???? Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Sun May 15, 2011 4:16 am ---- Retail is around £80 just buy a new one as it will only happen again and again. you could get one from a breakers but you dont see any 180s in there but the 1.4 16v has vvt and the solenoids fit each other
#7: Re: vvt???? Author: bigtony85, Location: NottinghamPosted: Sun May 15, 2011 4:28 am ---- hav to get it at trade price then from pug lol
