#1: Unknown clutch issue Author: roberto.f, Location: Coventry/Manchester PostPosted: Sun May 15, 2011 3:12 pm

Hey,

First of all, I have had a search and looked at like 20 different clutch threads, but nothing describes the same symptoms as this (including the clutch FAQ thread.) Also checked my Haynes.

When I have my clutch pressed to the floor, i can hear something spinning (flywheel?). I can also feel a slight vibration sensation in the pedal itself, as though something is loose. Could this be the release bearing or something like that? Should I worry about it?

Edit: There is no noise during the depressing/releasing of the pedal.

Just to give you a bit of extra information: I suffer from clutch judder, but I'm already aware of the reasons for this and the solution. (Most likely need flywheel replacing or skimming, and clutch kit replacing) BUT, maybe this is linked to my problem.

Any knowledge and experience anyone could offer would be much appreciated.

Cheers, Rob

be careful tho mate if too many miles done there could b the poss of the bearing f@*kin up totally and you will have to crash box the gears with no clutch or get it recovered to get it home.

Nice one I'll be sure to get it done the week i get back home. I won't be driving it very much until then anyway.

What is a thrust guide arm, is it a gear linkage?

Oh right, so part of the clutch kit then.

As I said, I won't be driving it again until I take it back down to Coventry. I'll get it booked in for the following day to make sure nothing goes wrong too soon.

Thanks for your help guys. I know very little about clutches/gearboxes.

Just got a quote: £220 + VAT. Replacing of 3 piece clutch kit inc. labour. Pretty happy with that price. Is a standard kit as well, not a cheap one.
