#1: broken 206 headlamp bracket Author: leon206, Location: uk PostPosted: Mon May 16, 2011 4:28 am

My 206 drivers side head lamp hit a bumper pushing my headlamp in. when i opened my bonnet i can see the bracket is snapped clean away from headlamp housing indiciated by the two yellow lines in library picture.

is a whole new headlamp required. or the back of the plastic can be replaced?

i also noticed there was condensation in headlamp in the mornign (never had it before) but i cant see any crack where the moisture may have got it ?

this is damage :

Is the rear cover on properly?

I wouldn't worry about the damaged bracket.

thats the problem. i dont know how far the headlamp has been pushed in. if i look at it with the bonnet closed. the bottom half of headlamp gap lines are OK. its just as it gets near to the top you can notice a gap.

if i try stick my hand down gap behind headlamp and change the side light or remove the washer bottle neck i am near enough unable to fit my hand in .

for the cost of them second hand I would just replace it dude Smile (providing nothing around the headlamp is damaged also)

The condensation could be because the covers not on properly as said or because the lamp has been stressed breaking the waterproof seal somewhere (its really hard to see where). In my experience once a headlight starts "steaming" its really difficult to get it to stop haha, you can get rid of it with a hairdryer and 10 mins (blowing into the headlight) but enless you find how waters getting in it will just return.

Also with the damage on the headlamp, its possible (i doubt it but you never know) it could alter the beam pattern causing you MOT issues?

For the cost of a second hand one (could probs pick a single one up on ebay) id change it Razz

It won't be your light thats out of place it will have bent your headlamp surround out of place, take the headlight out and reshape it with a block of wood and hammer and refit. The light should sit properly, you don't really need the top bracket if the other two brackets are in the correct place.
