That's because you only actually drain the water in the head and radiator. You don't drain most of the water in the engine block as it's below the drain points.

I think there is a core plug at the back of the engine but I wouldn't remove it. Just flush the system with fresh water through the reservoir.

The only bleed point on my 1.4 is the one at the back of the engine bay on the heating pipework. It may take a while to properly bleed the whole system but it will bleed eventually, trust me, it took me 3 attempts to get all the air out and stablise the water level.

My bad, I've found the thermostat housing I meant where do I find the heater matrix one? Which I think is the one you're talking about.

Have a look at the first pic at the beginning of this thread, its a perfect pic of the bleed point !!!
