Probably something they changed in production, below the glovebox all i've got is a big cover and the only gap is for the bonnet release

The brake transfer linkage will be the same as a UK spec right hand drive 206.

The 206 was originally designed as left hand drive.

A lot of cars use brake transfer linkages, older Fiesta's as an example but there linkage is inside the engine comparment.

Tried it in my 2003 206, tapped n pushed around in the passenger footwell for 5 minutes, no dramas at all.

if you poke your head under the passenger footwell and look upwards towards the centre console, you can see (on pre 2005 206's) a grey/metal column running along the front of the passenger compartment toward the drivers side - this is the brak trasnfer linkage.

It has the break light switch attached to it (so when you brake, the switch is opened and your brake lights come on)
