#1: gti dipstick Author: magistar, Location: new zealandPosted: Thu May 26, 2011 10:40 pm ---- hey guys, im looking to replace my old dipstick as the rubber seals are breaking apart and its the old straight design where it doesn't stay in place.
Looking at the maintenence how-to section, it seems that the newer design of dipstick is an orange ring at the end with part number 1174e2. However on ebay i found someone selling a dipstick for my car but with a violet coloured ring with part number 1174e1 link here. I am just wondering what is the difference between the two part numbers or does it even matter.
the 206 has a ew10j4 engine.
Cheers

Remember on this forum people dont want to go to the dealer & save money, they would rather waste there money on Ebay / down the scrap yard / on here
there's far to much main dealer phobia on here

#6: Re: gti dipstick Author: magistar, Location: new zealandPosted: Fri May 27, 2011 6:45 pm ---- the dealers here charges over $100nzd for a dipstick when i can get it for $60nzd or below including shipping from the internet... reading from all the posts before I am envious of how the peugeot dealers over in uk seems to be rather fair in their pricing. I remember reading somewhere that they do really cheap oil servicing compared to other local garages..?! itĺl be a dream if that was the case over here ($200nzd vs $90-100) though i do my own oil servicing.
so anyways. im guessing no one really know the difference? I messaged the guy on ebay and he seems puzzled by it as well but claimed that he was referred to that particular product as being the newer version and said that if the length is the same then it should be fine. if anyone has the newer dipstick for sell here and are willing to post to nz then let me know
