Slight Grinding & Bad Lacquer

#1: Slight Grinding & Bad Lacquer Author: Martind, Location: Woolsery, North Devon PostPosted: Tue Jun 07, 2011 12:28 pm

Hello There Smile

1st post in the Problem Section. Hopefully won't have to post here much!

Firstly, I have a slight Grinding noise when running. I know it isn't the thrust bearing, and it isn't a fault with the gearbox as it is there on Idle too.
It sounds like bearings, but I have checked the Alternator and PowerSteering and they are all Ok.

I think it is possibly the Waterpump bearings as I am not sure if it was changed when the cambelt was (done a while before I owned it)

Do you guys have any ideas on this? It isn't too loud a noise, just makes the same noise as a noisy thrust bearing

Also, the car got Poo'ed on the other day by a bird. I washed it off that evening and it had damaged the lacquer. I was suprised that damage was caused that quickly!
Has anyone else had any problems like this with the paint, and what do you recommend to try and make it look a little better?

Any help on either of these would be great!

Looking forward to hearing your soloutions/ideas Smile

Cheers, Martin.

you normally need to remove the poo within an hour and before it dried out.

try T-cut, it should help.

Cheers for the very quick reply seabook! But i think its past the T cut stage though il take a few pics of the areas

Does the noise go when you dip the clutch pedal?
Even when the engine is at idle the gearbox still rotates one of the shafts.

With the paint, you could possible get away with flatting with very fine wet or dry and then polishing up.
A good coat of wax can delay the lime marking the paint in future. We have birds nesting in trees near us and car gets covered most days, but it just rinses off with a hose. Be very careful when wiping as bird muck can be very gritty.

The noise is there with the Clutch In and Out.
And it is coming from the Cambelt Area, and is definatly a bearing noise

That roof is fooked, no way was the poo only there a short while, unless the bird was eating toxic waste?
