Hi All,

New to the whole 206 thing, the Mrs decided to buy a W reg 206 GTi 138bhp sold as seen on Ebay....

So far in the past week I've done the discs, pads, replaced most of the fuses in the fuse box, drop links, wishbones, suspension top mounts and the tracking is getting done when it gets some new boots this weekend. Gotta love women..... Rolling Eyes

However, I'm stumped with the lack of rev counter or speedo. The fuel & temp gauge work fine, but no life at all in the other two. Mileage & indicator displays also work, there's also a definite "click, click, click" noise that comes from the clocks when the ignition is turned off and the key removed, it's almost like a sparking sound but not......

Do you guys think it's the cluster or am I looking at getting the ECU refurbished.....?

Thanks in advance

Adam

Mate I had a similar thing in which my speedo would sometimes work, and the cluster was at fault.

Close drivers door at one click so it isnt closed fully. Drive the car to 10mph if you hear a beeping sound and flashing light then the cluster is at fault.

My car does this and my clusters are fine. Could that be a Multi plexed thing?

welcome to the forum, sounds like a cluster fault to me, but as said before clean all the connectors just incase its them, if you get a replacement cluster make sure you get one with less/very similar mileage because they cant be easily clocked back

Does it look like the background of the clocks have been changed?

Open a door and start to drive...if you hear a beeping and/or the interior light flashes, then the sensors are fine. Its the clusters.

No, it's supposed to do this, the beeping is an alert to let you know the doors are open.

The guys saying to do it because the beep is controled via the ECU detecting the car moving, so if it beeps it's the cluster at fault for not displaying a speed, if it doesnt beep it's something more Wink
