Which most place's now only offer if you get them to do the work. Also a lot of garage's put a time limit on a re-test which is not always suitable if its a expensive job. Pre Mot check's might be a extra expense but can save you money if you suspect something is wrong. The garage near me charge's a Tenner for a pre check which most people on here spend in McDonald's a day so not going to break the bank.

Pre MOT check was free
They basically said to me to put it through the MOT so that they know exactly what needs doing, then as long as they do they work within 10 days then the retest is free. And if I book the MOT online, then its only £28. But if it works out cheaper to fix these bits before the MOT then im going to do it.
#22: Re: Repair bill :( Author: Howey, Location: Kings LynnPosted: Sun Jun 19, 2011 5:08 am ---- £400 is extortion.
The only real issue it the driveshaft. About £90 (after surcharge) will get you the complete shaft and then if you know someone who can do it then you are onto a winner!
Since when did they check archliners on the mot?

If its hanging loose or interfering with the front wheels on steering lock then it will get picked up.

well what they've quoted is,
£210 for the load valve

£155 for CV boot
£74 for CV joint
Then rounded it down to £400.
I have no idea about this stuff, so I want it as cheap as possible :S
