#1: Headlights Come On By Themselves Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Mon Jun 20, 2011 2:49 am ---- Just noticed this on my way to work this morning. It's a nice, sunny day here but I could see the reflection of my headlights in the rear of the car in front of me and when I looked at the dash the lights were on but then they went off by themselves a few seconds later . They did it again but this time I switched the lights on at the stalk and then off again and they went off. What could be causing this?

Not necessarily.
I had a brand new com2000 unit fitted by Peugeot.
The lights come on in low light or very bright sunlight.

How can I check if these apply on my car? Bit of a long shot, but you never know!

#9: Re: Headlights Come On By Themselves Author: meady, Location: basingstokePosted: Mon Jun 20, 2011 3:31 am ---- On the end of one of the stalks there is a button that says auto. Tht is for the auto lights. Turn the key to ignition but don't start the engine then hold the auto button down for a few seconds, u should here a bong noise and on the display it should say auto lights activated or deactivated
#10: Re: Headlights Come On By Themselves Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Mon Jun 20, 2011 3:46 am ---- OK, I'll get looking at the stalk at lunchtime. I do remember pressing the end of the stalk before and there is a button on it, but I never checked to see what it was. The only reason I pressed it is because that button is where the horn is on my old 306 and I was still getting used to the new 206 layout where the horn is now on the steering wheel itself! Perhaps I do have auto-headlights, or is the button on all stalks but only wired up on auto-headlight models?
#11: Re: Headlights Come On By Themselves Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Mon Jun 20, 2011 7:00 am ---- Right, the stalk does have Auto on it and I have tried the steps above but there was no beeping sound or anything and no message on the display. Hmmm
#12: Re: Headlights Come On By Themselves Author: Matt, Posted: Mon Jun 20, 2011 7:45 am ---- You need to turn key to first click. Then press the end button on the left stick in and hold until the bong.
#13: Re: Headlights Come On By Themselves Author: loudnproud, Location: derbyPosted: Mon Jun 20, 2011 8:33 am ---- i have same problem on my 03 plate 206 sounds like comms on way out, roughly 160-170 for unit + whatever someone charges to fit,do your indicators stop after a few flashes and activate the headlights?
#14: Re: Headlights Come On By Themselves Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Mon Jun 20, 2011 8:36 am ---- Fit the Com2000 yourself
#15: Re: Headlights Come On By Themselves Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Mon Jun 20, 2011 8:40 am ---- I don't have any other problems with my lights, only that the headlights and backlight for the dash come on automatically if the car thinks it's dark, which it isn't! I have tried pushing the auto button in with the key at one click and two clicks but no beep or message to say the auto feature has been turned on or off.
