#1: Gti 180 janspeed question Author: furryhobnob, Location: Nuneaton PostPosted: Tue Jun 21, 2011 4:17 pm
    ----
Hi can people who've got the janspeed exhaust on their 180 help me with a couple of questions, firstly how does it sit properly regarding the rubber mounting points as from the pics I've seen it doesn't look like it sits the same as the standard exhaust(the length of the bumper)
Second are their places where you get these fitted or just buy one from eBay and fit myself?
Third and last question, how do they sound and any increase in responsiveness? I'm not expecting alot of bhp just curious as to whether it feels smoother, already got a panel filter fitted, thanks in advance for answering any of the above

Cheers for the swift replys guys, why's scorpion better? Also I don't mind fitting it myself and my stepdad works for Peugeot so he will help me, just wondered what the situation was with the hangers on the exhaust as like I said it doesn't go across the bumper it follows the length of the car like the exhaust on the gti 138

Just from what I've read in the past, people preferred Scorpion and they saw better improvements on performance.

scorpion is better for performance, but not by enough for me have gave up the sound and looks of the janspeed, plus the janspeed is a lot lighter than the scorpion so that 0.1bhp it probably gains wont mean to much

I Loved my Janspeed, so much better than the Scorpion. It's got great looks & a lovely sutle noise. Can't say I noticed an increase in responsiveness or any thing else. The local tyre & exhaust centre fitted it for £50.

I will fit it myself, I think I will be going for the janspeed, can anyone enlighten me regarding the hangers for the rubber mounts?

It will just fit on the stock mounts.

If you are looking best performance exhaust for gti180 that is definitely France made Madac GrupN exhaust. But sound like a monster. To loud for street use.
I like my janspeed. Also like pops and chops sounds. Very Happy It is lighter than scorpion and and stock one. If you want more power and more sound just decat it.

Already had one and did see on the RR lost torque and gain'd 1 BHP.

It does make it load though and it stinks of petrol.

Yes I loved my Janspeed, sounded great and tbh you won't see a difference in performance (nobody can feel 1-2 bhp on 170!)

It's easy to fit, took me ten minutes with the car jacked up! The janspeed matches up to the existing mounts although I did have to tweak and fettle mine a bit to make it perfect against the bumper (in which it sits perfectly!)

Buy it, you wont regret it!!

The Janspeed sounds awesome especially to other road drivers when one is bombing past you over 100mph. *cough* Not directed at anyone in particular in this thread *cough* Laughing

And in the tunnel at FCS in 2010, popping and stuff made me wish I had one! lol.

soundwise is bloody awesome when its hot it pops and crackles lovely and the sound isnt too loud i do quite a bit of long distance driving and it isnt too obtrusive
fitwise il be honest it did take me quite a while of tweaking and bending the mounts to get it to fit right but now its in the right place its spot on

Cheers for the responses guys, not interested in major gains just yet I was just wondering if anyone thought that when they fitted it the car felt more responsive, I will be getting one, decent tyres first though as the car I bought has budgets on and although they're brand new it felt very unsafe in the wet this morning!

Some expensive tyres feel dangerous in the wet too haha, my Parada spec 2's feel a bit iffy but if you don't drive like a d**k then you'll be fine, In the dry they're the best tyres i've ever used. In regards to the Janspeed I didn't feel any gains with just the exhaust but once I added the race cat I did.

These dont feel good in the dry, and even when driving slow into sharp corners the car was understeering like fook, budget tyres are utter s**te

You'll have a hard job finding some Toyo Proxes at the moment too as there's a shortage in the supply chain (according to our local dealership).

Decat is illegal in the UK as the 180 wont pass the emmisons test with the cat removed.

Will fail the MOT & also fail any VOSA / Police roadside spotchecks.

That pretty much goes without saying, people decat for either performance gains or the sound. Generally no one gives a toss about emissions when they fit one.

if you going to be keeping the car for a few yrs then worth gettingg one that will last the test of time .
