Morning all,

Getting a lot of grief from my front passengers as the seatbelt seems to have jammed. Cant pull it away from the door pillar at all, barely any slack to loosen it....is this a common problem? Any ideas on how to fix it? Gussing it's a replacement job Sad

Cheers

you could try teasing it out by unbolting it from the lower rail, if its still snagging then id say replace it... im sure meady dont want too much for one Cool

Sounds like the 'inertia' bit of the seatbelt is jammed. You could try tapping it with a knocking stick to see if that'll release it, but I reckon the best & safest bet is to replace the whole belt.

I have the same problem but in the middle rear seat. Trouble is you can not get to because its inside the seat and there is no way of taking it apart. I may try pulling the plastic stop button off the belt and seeing if it will let me pull it out if i let it reel in further. Try it before replacing the belt.

Why's that? The old pre-plex/multiplex story again?

Probably has knowing my passengers. They have a talent of breaking things in my cars. Gotta fork out £35 for a new air vent in my other car because a mate stuck his finger between the vanes....sigh.

I'll try having a tinker first. If not i'll look into replacing it along with the ever growing list of problems...

Yeah the seat belt pretentionors.

Might be able to try and get the selt out if you just try and ease it out. Unless its the spring thats f****d.

this happened in my mondeo..... pull the seat forward and push it back with a bit of force... not quite a slam lol it seemed to free the belt up every time..

I cleaned the rachet part of the seat belt and it works again. There are some tiny plastic parts and a 8 mm steel ball in the pre-tensioner that are very sensitive to dirt. You need to remove a couple of plastic covers to get access.

Unbolt the top loop so you can feed a little belt back in to release the tensioner then pull straight up gently.

My 206 2.0L HDI SW back seats are tilted forward to enable me to load some boxes in the back. When I tried to folding them back upright the belt of the left seat did not want to release and is to tight that I'm not able to swing it back to sitting position. The belt is inside the seat, how can I open it to release the tensioner?

I search the forums but couldn't find a similar problem except under this thread. I'll appreciate some help and advice please.
I'm totally new to Peugeot - bought the car last year October (haven't used it much). I remember as a young boy the 404's. They were very popular and recognised as very good cars in South Africa back then.

Thanks
