#1: Paint codes and model years Author: HFStuart, Location: Suffolk PostPosted: Sun Jul 03, 2011 11:40 am

I know my new Gti Hdi (yes I know but I'll cope if/when it goes horribly wrong) is Flamenco Red (KKN) and I know from the FAQ there were three non metallic reds in europe, Ardent, Cherry and Flamenco. I want to replace the fake alloy filler cap which I think is hideous, so I'm after some advice.

Does anyone know what years each paint code was used ( eg Cherry Red launch - 2002 then Flamenco 2002-2005) or were they all used at the same time?

Stuart

Great - that 98 filler cap I've seen on ebay would have been a waste then.

Do you happen to know when Ardent and Cherry were used?

Many thanks.

Lee is right, however, some of the ph1 colours will be found on ph2 cars due to the transition between plexed and mux taking ages lol.

why not get the cap and if its wrong then respray it?

That's what I'll do but I wanted to give myself the best chance of not having to spray it. The replies have helped loads.

mux was introduced in late 2001 and has nothing to do with phase 1/2 Laughing

Ardent is Diablo red I think, which is a rich blood red type colour

Cherry red is non-metallic

Flamenco is metallic

Flamenco isnt metallic, my 53 plate 1.1 is flamenco and looks flat to me, its just a softer kind of Red compared to Cherry, but look pretty similar.

Also i have a flamenco red filler cap *ie the standard one* i could sell you
