#1: raising up the car Author: bisphenol-a, Location: Antarctica PostPosted: Sat Jul 16, 2011 1:20 pm

hey fellas

i have 1 x trolley jack and 2 x car axle stands and tons of bricks in the backyard. im looking to remove the wheels 2 at a time and giving the calipers a nice coat of paint over Very Happy

am i missing out any essential items that could aid in safely raising the car? i was reading some threads and i saw that a piece of wooden block was sometimes stuffed between the jack and the car. well, the real question is where does the trolley jack go to lift up the front and the rear and where do the car axle stands sit when holding the front or rear up. my main concern is ensuring things are done right. dont wish to hurt myself or the car :/

if there were pictures that would be most helpful!
thanks for reading.

If you look under the car there are two beams at either side of the car running from the front end to midway of the rear. Put the jack in the middle, and it will lift the side up easily. Then put the axle stands on either that beam or jacking point at the front. And a axle stand on the jacking point or center rear where the spare wheel is

I jack mine up on the sill as it doesn't go under anyway (So how i am going to manage after today when its been lowered I don't know) and then I put a stand under the subframe for the front and under the shock for the rear.
