Hiya all. Just got myself a nice little pug 206 1.9d. Needs tidying up a bit but runs really nice.

Just got one problem and hoping someone can help. Its the drivers side hub nut. As some of you know. You tighten it up then squeeze the 2 little ends in to stop it from undoing. Problem is its tightened up as far as it will go but the end of the nut doesnt meet the end of the bolt. It over hangs. Its as if the nut is to long. The nut looks the same size as the other wheel. Can you get shorter nuts? If not would buying a new nut and use some locktight on it be ok?

Im not very good at describing it so if you need more info then please let me know.

Any help anyone can give would be great Smile

@ Pinxton_boy. Hello mate. Im just in Selston so just a stone throw away Smile Nice to meet ya

Thanks all for ya fast replys and sorry for not explaining it to well for ya.
Its the front drivers side. I'll up a picture for you to see.

Thats as far as the nut will do up. It has to be flush with the bolt so i can bend the little tabs to lock the nut. Im going to buy a new one tomorrow from Sutton auto factors. Do you think i could get a shorter nut or if not then you think some threadlocker would be good to use Smile

i would take the nut off, and see what staght the thread is on the nut and on the drive shaft. and put a new nut onit,as it looksl like it has been off a few times before.

Thanks for the reply buddy. Think i'll grab a new nut tomorrow. The threads on the nut dont look to good really. The driveshaft doesn't look to bad though. So hopefully its just the nut that needs replacing.

I always thought these nuts need replacing each time there taken off.

Well i brought a new nut for it today and it's just like my old one. Looks 100% the same and still doesn't fit all the way.

I have found out why though. Looks like someone tried to take the nut of at some point and couldn't. So what they did was cut it off along with about 2cm's of the drive shaft. God knows why but thats what they have done. So looks like i'll have to buy a new drivers side drive shaft because someone with the IQ of a wet tea bag thought he/she knew best Smile

Anyone know a good place local to get one? Seen second hand ones on ebay for about £40

It's odd. It doesn't look like it's damaged but I guess I can't see it properly from here. Have you compared the other side?

Yeah i have buddy. Other side has a very slight rounded end. Also about 2cm's long to. You can tell they cut it as it ruff and you can see the cutting lines in the metal.

I'll take a pic of the other side tomorrow and you'll hopefully see what i mean.

Would also like to thank everyone for your comments. Its nice to know im not alone and have you all to talk about my car and its problems Smile

There are two different types:

the nut that you hammer into the two slots in the end of the driveshaft like Nizmo's (which is another clue that something is very wrong with Nizmo's)

the type where you pin the nut cover to the driveshaft through a hole in it.
