#1: Mike's MK2 Mondeo 2.0 Zetec Author: Mike, Posted: Fri Aug 05, 2011 9:18 am ---- First off I've just bought the car from my dad, he's had it since it was 6 months old so know a lot of history etc with it
Looking for some subtle mods and keeping it neat and tidy for a year then quite possibly upgrade to a MK3 Zetec S (2.5 V6) if funds and family allow
Here's my previous car, Pug 206:
Had a lot of time and money put into it but with the arrival of a lil lad in my life it had to go, currently sat looking very standard on the drive ready to go!
So bought the Mondeo, a couple of things wrong with it which I'll go into in a few lines but here's a couple of pictures
Cars been very well looked after with bodywork in mint condition bar a tiny patch of surface rust on the under sill but nothing to worry about I feel.
The two main problems 1 of which is a nuisance more than anything are as follows, the car leaks water in the boot, which is fine this time of year but come winter the car steams up instantly! I've read and had a look and its coming from behind the passenger rear light seal. I was going to ask Ford if they sell the backing material separate or if someone has found a good way to sort this and 'd rather not use silicone if possible
The other is the alarm module that has failed. Around 2 months ago one of the door solenoids failed which was replaced and all worked fine until when we were driving home the red LED next to the clock came on and started 'glowing' and a humming noise came from the alarm box under the dash above the throttle pedal. On removal of this module the light goes out and obviously the alarm doesn't work and neither does the central locking. I'm keeping an eye on eBay as I was told the part number needs to match 100% for it to work
Opinions welcomed on mod ideas, I'm thinking subtle, such as colour coded exterior door handles from another model, all depending on how hard they are to change. A said subtle is the way forward for me as I'm not looking to keep for more and a year or two
Bosch Aero wipers added!
Looking at seeing if I have the heated seats switch under the seat for a retrofit if possible next then full leather interior!

as for mods, why not a similar style to this?

As nice as they are they're still going for silly money especially if they need a respray.
If I keep the car longer than planned they may go on, if not I'll look onwards to the MK3
The car suited me well, I've always driven bigger cars along with the Pug and always preferred the comfort over the small cabin etc. Plus with the lil'un it made more sense having the Mondeo

#6: Re: Mike's MK2 Mondeo 2.0 Zetec Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Fri Aug 05, 2011 11:47 am ---- Wow, a Mondeo without cracked bumpers. Does it have the wobbley back bumper on motorways like many of them had?
#7: Re: Mike's MK2 Mondeo 2.0 Zetec Author: Callum206, Location: West SussexPosted: Fri Aug 05, 2011 11:54 am ---- Something about these cars makes me want to gag, see if you can chance that
#8: Re: Mike's MK2 Mondeo 2.0 Zetec Author: Mike, Posted: Sat Aug 06, 2011 9:01 am ---- Nope all the bodywork is spot on! Like I say it's been in the family since near enough day one so it's been very well looked after!
May not be to everybody's taste but I can't knock the build quality etc compared to the Pug! Meets all my needs as well as the Pug was not practical for the lil'un!
