If you are concerned i'd definetly take it somewhere else just to get someone elses opinion, you can always go back to them if you find there is cause for concern.

I'd change the coolant if I were you if it's been in for 5 years and is brown
Just make sure you get the right stuff, the red and blue coolants shouldn't be mixed.
Maybe that's what happened and it's silted?
Do u mean get a new bottle
Just get a garage to flush the coolant system and add some fresh. It wont cost alot. was £12 for me I think.

maybe its been filled with tap water, which i was always told would start scaling.
Far better of using distilled or deionised water in the cooling system mixed 50 / 50 with a decent coolant / antifreeze.

Stick it in the dishwasher if you have one.
OR
NON bio dishwasher or washing up powder / liquid / tablets & take the car for a drive to get it up to a decent temp, helps clean the cooling system out wonderful.
Whatever you use it MUST, I repeat MUST be NON bio!

I got good old deionised mixed with a decent antifreeze, what i always used in the Red 206 when i swapped the rad and flushed it.

We get around 4 - 6 months out of a cartridge depending on how many & how often the batteries get topped up.
#23: Re: Head Gasket what are the signs Author: fikemoster, Location: GravesendPosted: Mon Aug 08, 2011 11:18 am ---- Funnily enough my cars just come from the garage the other day to have the head gasket changed, the massive sign was the leaking although it drove a good 1000 miles before it was changed
