Injectors ticking?

Yes another ticking thread.

I've had what I have put down to an exhaust manifold rattle for a whole, which you can only hear while accelerating between 2k-3k on my 2.0 16V 138. I started a thread to this end and someone random mentioned that it was and injector and didn't clarify or repsond when I asked how could this be.

Could the injectors be responsible for this type of noise. I've recently had a speradic problem pulling away from a morning start where the revs just wont rise and I have to quickly dump the clutch and pile some revs on for it tyo clear and it's then fine for another few days/weeks/months. It's doesn't feel like the car wants to stall if just doesn't want to acclerate like it's not ghetting fuel. Again, dos this sound possibly injector related.

(no faults codes stored or EML light)

Could be down to an injector as they do make a ticking noise but it also sounds like a problem i would associate with a faulty crank sensor.

Crank sensor sounds expensive, 70quids worth or so?? Mind you injectors are more.

Any way to tell for certain or is it a case or p**sing in the wind until I come across the answer?

(again no faults stored, no eml light. First thing I got checked at pug)

crank sensor governs the fuelling and sparking so could be the answer, if its an intermittent fault then it might not throw up the eml. Could you use a known good one from a friend to rule it out?

I know no one personlly who has one no, infact i don't know anyone personally apart from me silly enough to buy a pug...,......

I'll do a bit of digging and see what I can find out, knowing my luck with this car it'll be injectors and the crank sensor.

i had a leak in my injectors and the part cost me about 12p (copper washer) and to fit it was about £200 lol

3 out of 4 of my injectors where leaking (air being sucked into the engine), it was down to the bottom rubber seals perishing, I got the replacment kits for 15quid in total and fitted myself, 10 min job, didn't do the upper ones as they weren't leaking.

As mentioned, the injectors can make a bit of a racket as they get older (or in fact from new in the case of the old Mi16). Other causes of ticking I've found are cracked exhaust manifolds.
As for hesitating when pulling off, I've found dodgy throttle position sensors to create a similar issue, as well as a failing coil pack or duff spark plug/plugs.

Coilpack was replaced with a brand new unit along with 4 brand new boshe super 4's. It's doesn't feel like the misfire I have before the tappets where replaced. Ehasues has been check many many times by different garages. THere claims that there if no noise comeing from any of the system and the specificaly checked the manifold after asking them to do so. My thoughts where that is was still the internal pipes on the manifold which with being inspected could still appear ok at the aperture. but it's sounded mire likely it's not.

I'll be getting some injector cleaner throught the engine this weekend to see if any difference in noise is noticed, I always run on Vpower which has cleaners in it anyway but maybe the more concetrated does is worth a try.
