#1: Filter mix up. Author: jcowan, Location: Leslie, fife PostPosted: Tue Aug 09, 2011 4:45 pm
    ----
Bought an oil filter from a local parts dealer as my oil had'not been changed since i bought the car (March this year) and i had meant to do it before as i had no idea really how long the current oil has been in.
So i set about it drained the oil yada yada yada. and when i went to fit the new filter it wouldnt fit. I checked the one that had just came out and they were completley different. but by this time it was 6 at night and nothing i could do so that was the car off the road for at least tonight which i needed to get to Training later on and till when i can get the part which they better have the correct one in stock Evil or Very Mad only me could this happen to. its an 03 1.4 8v are there seperate filter designs for different years? or was this just somebody trying to ruin my day? Crying or Very sad

When I got mine the parts guy knew what one I needed but let me take both types of paper one just in case, he was right about what one I needed so I bought the other one back. The parts guy I use is only round the corner from work though
