Hi...iam new to this site so its my first post..I have a 206 HDI 1.4 on a 04 plate...My main beam has totaly packed in.. I have run threw the suspects as in checked every fuse on the car under dash and under bonet.. I checked to see if power was geting to the buld at the pins. But there is no power on the plug I tuk out the buld and powered it on a 12v batterie and they work fine. so iam left thinking its a relay or a stalk problem..Has anyone come across the same thing b4....?

Nope i havnt, not sure were the relay would be on your headlights (crystals) but i think you are probably right with it being the relay! Very Happy

2004 car is multiplexed & the relay will either be inside the BSI unit OR it will be in the BM34 unit under the bonnet.

04 plate car should be sporting crystal front lights.

Make sure you are looking at the correct bulbs, main beam bulbs are the ones nearest the grill.

Turn the ignition OFF, now quickly pull the main beam stalk towards you for a second to activate the follow you home headlamp function.
Do the dipped beam headlights come on & stay on for 30 seconds?

If they DO then the stalk is fine.
If they DONT then start by rebooting the BSI unit.

Which plugs have you checked?

Black 2 pin plug on back of bulb OR the grey 3 pin plug on the actual headlamp?

You should ALWAYS lock the car with the remote fob so the BSI unit goes to sleep correctly.

Leaving it just unlocked allows the BSI to time out & go in to economy mode instead of going to sleep, if the BSI software crashes while in economy mode your basically stuffed.

Reboot the BSI unit & then lock the car with the fob instead of leaving it unlocked.

Also have a look at the grey 3 pin plug on the actual headlamp, those 3 wires are the feed in for both the dipped & main beam bulbs.

The short bulb wiring harness inside the headlamp has been known to fail before, check the grey plug for voltage / earth in to the headlamp.

I once had a problem with the main beam not lighting I found it was 2 issues
1) I have morettes and they have a ground wire, the ground wire needed replacing as it wasn't a good connection (wiggled it and lights would work for a little then switch off)

2) after playing around with power on the main beams wouldn't light at all, I blew a 15a fuse. This is under the bonnet. I have heard that sometimes the fuses can blow but they don't show any evidence.

Your problem to me sounds more like a fuse

Shouldn't be a dodgy earth, he said he has investigated, and there's no power going in, presuming he used a earthing point on the chassis of the car, it shouldn't be that.
Use the "Half split" technique using the wiring diagrams in haynes?

If the reboot, checking the fuses & wiring doesnt cure it.

Id go for the com2000 unit, the BSI on a multiplexed car dont really ever go wrong.

Its normally people messing around with the wiring not knowing what there doing that kills BSI's.

Try & find someone with Peugeot planet or other suitable diagnostic kit to scan the BSI unit & test the com unit.

Peugeot Planet is the best / quickest way of finding the fault on this Wink

OK heres the update...Tryed the reboot 5 times i even unpluged the amp and unpluged the stereo..on the 5th atemt so as there was no power to any other devices... But its made no diffrence what so ever..BUGGER..
I allso tested the 3pin plug to the head lights and got no power for main beam..only dipped beam showed power on the test unit... So next iam guna try the com2000 unit..once i work out what that is..lol..Ill also try the "Half split" technique..and ill get it on the diagnostic as well...Ive checked every fuse on the car with a votage test unit both sides of the fuse to...

Ill get back to everone as soon as ive tryed all these things...Thanks again guys !!

Com 2000 unit is the indicator / wiper stalks assembly, its one big lump.

Drivers airbag & steering wheel need to be removed to replace it.
