#1: Ape's 206 Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 6:01 pm ---- Here's a few pics of my Old 206. Was a great little motor and enjoyed (almost) every minute of driving it, gave a few more poweful cars a fright on track as well
I had him for 4 years and did quite a bit of work, axles, wheels, brakes, suspension, engine, cosmetic touches here and there, was a great project. Miss it quite a bit sometimes.

#4: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Luke, Location: LeedsPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 6:12 pm ---- My favourite example of a well modified 206.
When you put it up for sale I thought hard about buying it but, without sounding hypocritical, the amount of engine tinkering put me off - especially the fiasco with the cams.
#5: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Brian, Location: VVT Land, FifePosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 6:15 pm ---- This is the car that made me join this site in the first place End of story. Ape's new car is a heap

#7: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 6:22 pm ---- Heh heh. I've never heard from the new owner. Both happy and sad about that mind. I'm sure if he had a problem shortly after buying it he'd be in touch. But I've never heard a thing. ce la vie and all that I guess.
The Cams were a fiasco, but.... I soon stripped the engine back down into bits, rebuilt it with new Cam Belt, Head Gasket, Reworked Head and got it running within 5 hours or so. And it ran like a dream the next day at Castle Combe. Was (and hopefully still is) a fantastic motor.
#8: Re: Ape's 206 Author: lee206xsi, Location: CheltenhamPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 6:37 pm ---- one of my fav looking 206's, looked so well cared for mate, paintwork looks spot on!
#9: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Luke, Location: LeedsPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 6:40 pm ---- I'm surprised the new owner never joined up here tbh. You did tell them didn't you?

#11: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Dillon, Location: KentPosted: Mon Feb 08, 2010 4:11 am ---- Aye a most beautiful 206 and not shy either gave my GTI a good run down the A21 once, it isn't just a nice 206 it is an icon one of the greats mate shame that you sold it should have gone to a museum or something
#12: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Mon Feb 08, 2010 4:20 am ---- Heh heh, I'd like to buy it back (he say's without seeing the shape its in now). If I could put the Leon's engine into it I would have it back in a heartbeat. Would be a monster then
It was a bit quicker than what it said on the tin It had quite a history, not all of it good mind, but it's all experience eh?!
I wanted to get it faster, but I just didn't have the cash at the time. Would have loved to get a supercharged engine in there but it was just out of reach. If I could have managed it, I would still have it
#13: Re: Ape's 206 Author: lukeG, Location: stevenagePosted: Wed Feb 24, 2010 1:46 pm ---- That is such a nice pug , good choice on all of it mate would dun it pritty much the same , i deffo want sum of those alloys aswell !!!

#19: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Wed Feb 24, 2010 2:35 pm ---- I love the Parada's, as soon as the tyres wear down on the LCR I'll be getting some fitted.
Seb - remember the exhaust manifold?
#20: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Seb, Location: Under your bedPosted: Wed Feb 24, 2010 2:36 pm ---- That was just a minor setback!!
#22: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Wed Feb 24, 2010 2:42 pm ---- Seb, it was a constant set back.
Ape, whilst tightening the exhaust manifold nuts up. "Seb, hows it going?"
Seb, "Yeah yeah, alright, taking a while and they're not doing up"
Ape, "Thats because you're undoing every single one that I've tightened"
Seb, "oh, not good"
Classic
Al - I don't care! I don't speak French

A few people have said that bud, it wasn't my intention to make it look like a 180. I don't think it did look like a 180, only had the front seats from a 180 that were easily spotted. The stuff behind the wheels and under the chassis you couldn't see too well!

#34: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Wed Aug 18, 2010 2:37 am ---- I recognise that photo lol. sideways around quarry in the wet. Fun times Wasn't bad for a 1.4 16v
#35: Re: Ape's 206 Author: n1ck106, Location: scotlandPosted: Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:19 am ---- 1.4 16v with discs on the rear ? u do that mod yourself?
#36: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:29 am ---- Nope, it came out of the factory with rear discs. I did beef up the rear with a complete GTi180 rear beam and Gti180 front brakes along with other bits and pieces.
#37: Re: Ape's 206 Author: n1ck106, Location: scotlandPosted: Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:31 am ---- thats rather cool . my 2.0 hdi xsi has big ugly mother f*****g drums wish was discs. how hard is it to convert ?
#38: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:43 am ---- For mine it was easy as it already had discs. Just disconnected the brake lines, wiring and handbrake cables, fitted the new rear axle which had the arms, discs, calipers etc already on and connected it back up. I think my project thread for it all is still on here somewhere. If not let me know and I'll post it up.
#39: Re: Ape's 206 Author: n1ck106, Location: scotlandPosted: Wed Aug 18, 2010 4:03 am ---- maybe a stupid question do drum use break fluid also or ar they springs or somthing ? would it basicly be plug and play if so id look into it
#40: Re: Ape's 206 Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Wed Aug 18, 2010 4:31 am ---- They're still operated by brake fluid yes. It's almost plug and play with a bit of fiddling with pipework from drums to discs. You may not have the ABS wiring for the rear that does with it, you may also have a little trouble with the braking bias too. Something I didn't really look into as I was doing the modification moreso for the torsion and Anti roll bars, all rear disc axles have the same brake setup you see so for me it was plug and play.
#41: Re: Ape's 206 Author: n1ck106, Location: scotlandPosted: Wed Aug 18, 2010 4:54 am ---- yeah well i do have abs ill look into it when ive got some spare candy but for now. fmic
braking bias i think 80 discs 20 drums
60 discs 40discs . just form what ive heard i think
