#121: Re: Ape's SEAT Leon Cupra R 225 *New Brakes* Author: Lodey, Location: Penzance & Falmouth CornwallPosted: Thu May 20, 2010 7:17 am ---- Also what width are the cupra r wheels is it 8j? and i didnt know if the 225 had 323mm discs or if that is an option to upgrade disc size with out having to move the caliper. as there seems to be two disc size floating around. just asking as i will be upgrading to cupra r brakes on my cupra when i get it. Cant afford a R even thou the insurance for a 210 LCR is the same as the 180bhp cupra
#122: Re: Ape's SEAT Leon Cupra R 225 *New Brakes* Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Thu May 20, 2010 9:31 am ---- I can't remember off the top of my head mate. I don't know it as well as my old Pug I'll get there though as I upgrade it.
I'm using 225/40/18's on mine with no stretch. Insurance for my LCR225 is £600 but that's because I'm old and drive like a granny (honest!)
New rear brakes will be going on this Saturday, with a bit of a B Road Blast to the West Coast
#123: Re: Ape's SEAT Leon Cupra R 225 *New Brakes* Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Sun May 23, 2010 12:10 pm ---- We sorted the rear brakes yesterday
We also figured that the wheel bolts undoing themselves at speed was due to the Powercoating preventing proper contact between the Wheels and Bolt Seats, we removed this and I've spent today out on a "spirited" drive and everything's tight
Fuel of Champions! (Or Chumpians?!), work shouldn't start without on, especially on a Saturday!
Techie sorting out my wheel loosening issue. Removing powdercoating from the Bolt Seats
Caliper Piston being wound back in
Old Discs to come off
New Rear Pads
New Rear Disc
All done, nice, new and shiny
Getting the Car back onto the ground and off the ramps is always a challenge
Also lowered the front a little more Cheers for doing the work Techie, much appreciated
Next up... Blueflame 3" Turbo back system
Lodey... Mine are the 323mm discs

good choice on pads mate, got them on mine, you get new discs all round from Bill (badger5) aswell ?
#125: Re: Ape's SEAT Leon Cupra R 225 *New Brakes* Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Sun May 30, 2010 6:27 am ---- Nah, the front discs are from Badger 5, as are the front pads. The rears are OEM from a mate of mine at a SEAT Dealer.

#127: Re: Ape's SEAT Leon Cupra R 225 *New Brakes* Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Sun May 30, 2010 8:10 am ---- It's a bugger to get onto mate, we've got blocks of wood, jacks and carpet tiles to give us enough clearence to get the arms of the ramp underneath
I'm toying with getting a Full Blueflame Exhaust system fitted before FCS, just need the spare £1000 to get it. Got it sitting there so tempted

But not for long...you not tempted to spray some silver hammerite on the vents and hub part? It lasts forever and doesn't burn off. Keeps them looking brand new. Otherwise they rust straight away.
#129: Re: Ape's SEAT Leon Cupra R 225 *New Brakes* Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Sun May 30, 2010 9:02 am ---- They're hammerited already, another coat after
rockingham won't hurt
#130: Re: Ape's SEAT Leon Cupra R 225 *New Brakes* Author: calum001, Location: FifePosted: Sun May 30, 2010 9:20 am ---- haha very true, never thought about that ! if you've got it sitting burning a hole and you know your going to get one eventually then get it done bud
yeh Edward i wish i had sprayed mine before fitting them aswell as mine have went a bit rusty on both parts after just a few days
#131: Re: Ape's SEAT Leon Cupra R 225 *New Brakes* Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sun May 30, 2010 9:24 am ---- I did mine and the ones on the wifes car before fitting, did about 3 coats and on both cars they are still immaculate. Looking forward to doing them on the Jetta now...it's well worth it. Who wants new brakes looking old?
#132: Re: Ape's SEAT Leon Cupra R 225 *New Brakes* Author: Seb, Location: Under your bedPosted: Sun May 30, 2010 9:46 am ---- I just changed mine and did them black as I had no silver on me and it was a last minute thing when the car was in bits. Looks good when kept nice and clean I think!

More into driving it than tarting it up if I'm honest Last edited by Ape on Sun May 30, 2010 11:43 am; edited 1 time in total
