Hi guys n girls, I bought a ppt40 clock for my 2001 preplex 206 but have no connector. I've managed to get some connectors for the pins and the wires are tightly on now. I used the how to and a multi meter for wiring help.

My question is should I disconnect the battery as I'm going to splice into the original small clock wiring so it can be swapped back if needed
Thanks

sorry but can i ask another question, if you have the single line display (3 bulb) i think, can you swap it for the double line the thicker one found in sports etc, my cars a 54 plate 1.4 S model and like the guy above i cant find a dual line display with the same plugs , if i spliced into them would the petrol gauge on the display work etc??

You need a PPT 40 3 line display Wink

As for the trip computer working, you need to either:

Change the complete com2000 unit for one with trip button on the end of the wiper stalk.

OR

Change the end of the wiper stalk for one with the trip button.

and then it should just plug and play?? or will a little splicing of the wires be required if the plugs dont match?
Smile

A single line PPT 40 display to a 3 line PPT 40 is simple plug & play.

A wee quickie question on this subject, I changed a PPT 40 for what I thought was the same type but the outside temp don't work does anyone know if their is a dip switch inside the unit to enable the temp function or would I need to get another PPT 40 that has the temp incorporated. I changed it as the time date couldn't be changed.

Cheers

Do you not need to enable the trip in the BSI as I've seen an option for it? Just a thought.

Thats a pass on that as the one that was in gave the temp but couldn't change the time or date as the buttons did nothing so really don't know....

If you have a factory cd changer then YES.

If you dont then apparently the trip computer just works once the wiper stalk button is working.

so aslong as i find a 3 line ppt40 display with the same plugs as mine should be straight swap and get the wiper stalk off any car (presumably the same car i take the display unit from) and it should be fine Smile
i found a gti near where i live but the plugs were slightly different so i thought id have to get the splicing part done first??
cheers!

I'v just done this yesterday, PP-T40 3 bulb single line display to PP-T40 Multi line display. Straight Swap. To get the trip computer to work, take the very end of the wiper stalk off (not the chunk with the ribbon cable attached, just the button) stick a cocktail stick or similar into little hole, see if it works (on my single line it changed from radio info to date and temp), as soon as I fitted the multi line display the whole trip comp worked. Cool

PS got the multi line display on ebay for £10.
