Centre clock
-> 206 Problems

Ok, so i fixed my cluster and then realised my clock in the centre doesn't work. I've been looking through this section trying to find something that sounds like mine. I really have no idea what model it is but it would appear to be a single line display with just clock only. It was dim so i took it apart and tried a bulb, it didn't change. OH tested it with a multi-meter and it seems dead. Any ideas?

Could i replace it with a multi line display rather than the single line with time only? Not a problem if not, just curious, specially if im going to have to replace it.

If it's just the small clock then no, the multi line pre-plexed one won't plug straight in because the connector block is bigger and a different type - that connector type is a PPT-30, I believe the clock connector is a PPT-20.

So there's no digits showing? there should be 4 wires, red (live) green/yellow (earth) and 2 x blues (lighting). If there's no digits I'd be looking at checking fuses with the multimeter.

If you did want a screen then I retrofitted one a few years ago with a multiplexed display. I grabbed a PPT-40 connector from a scrap 206 along with a singe line display and spliced it in. I did a guide here 206info.co.uk/Forums/v...t=237.html - But obviously if you've got a power issue this might not fix the problem.

Have you checked the fuse?

Thanks for that guys, i have digits just no backlighting it would appear so i checked the bulb, replaced it and it was the same. The unit was tested with a multimeter which showed nothing going to the unit, at that point we ran out of time so will be checking the fuse today, any idea which one it is? Mine is the 1.4lx manual petrol model.

Depends if your car if pre plexed or multi plexed, have a look at the two threads at the bottom of this: www.206info.co.uk/Foru...m/f=9.html

Don't think it could be a fuse as it seems the clock is on the same fuse as other things on both wiring systems?
There could be a break in the wiring so you could check the continuity of the circuit, from fuse to negative and positive on the connector
Hope I've helped Smile

I think its ple-plexed. I will get that checked too. Would appear broken wires are a bit of an issue with this car at the moment, had one to the speedo too!!! We'll fix this one just like we did that one.

Thanks, i'm sure you've helped Smile
