Multiplex radio
-> 206 Problems

#1: Multiplex radio Author: puggy206, Location: scunthorpe PostPosted: Sat Sep 24, 2011 9:41 am

Hi all as u know just recently bought a 206 1.6 quiksilver and just had a simple question.

My friend has a gti 180 and his radio comes on straight away when he unlocks his car and stays on for 30 seconds after he takes his key out due to the bsi activating/active and the multiplexing I think I could be wrong though.

And I was just wondering should all multiplexed car radios come on when the car is unlocked or is it just a special feature in the 180?

If I can do it? How?

Thanks all

i think all muxcars do it, but you might want to wait for someone else to answer who has a mux car

You friend either has a wiring fault & / OR an aftermarket radio Wink

Standard factory multiplexed radio shouldn't behave like this.

He does have an aftermarket radio in but I wouldn't think that would make a difference should it?

Nope.

Next time when your friends car is locked, use your remote fob & press the unlock button near it.

Sometimes the BSI unit will wake up as it see's an unlock signal flaoting through the air which in turn will power the aftermarket radio up & then the BSI see's the unlock signal isnt the 1 its looking for & goes back to sleep again Laughing

no it should not do that ,i had the same problem/fault when fitting new h/u into my 180 its proberly because he has not got it wired into a ign live and just on a permanent live that comes on and go's of when the bsi is actervated or deactervated

Peugeot even do an ISO adaptor harness for multiplexed 206's to fit aftermarket radios so there wired in correctly.

Just leave the radio ON next time before you turn the ignition key OFF, next time you turn the key ON the radio will come on again.

Seems a pretty pointless feature.

According to this thread there is both normal and 'extended' ignition wires available in the ISO socket.

Personally I like the extended ignition as it gives my empeg just enough time to boot before I open the door and get to hear it read out a welcome + the time/date Smile The staying on doesn't concern me as it has become automatic to press pause/mute after engaging the hand brake, unclipping the belt, and before pulling the key.

I like the extended ignition too but I also read up on another forum that it cam f*** the bsi up?
