Knocking noises (Who'd have thought it on a 206?)

#1: Knocking noises (Who'd have thought it on a 206?) Author: LeeThr, Location: North West Wales PostPosted: Fri Oct 07, 2011 5:30 pm
    ----
Was walking around the car earlier just giving it a quick visual check over and (as you do) gave the front left wheel a kick as it was on a bit of an angle, as if I was trying to kick it to go further in and it gave this horrible knocking noise. Gave it a kick on the other side, same noise so went over to the drivers side kicked that wheel and got a knock from that side as well.

Any ideas what I could be looking at? It's not long had new drop links.

its not the same noise as it was before i replaced the drop links. It also seems to be quite low down so think it might be the wishbones.

why would your differential collapse if you remove the driveshaft? i know as best working practice you should always leave one in but you only need to remove one.

Its what happened on my mates 206 his gearbox had the same grinding noise as mine has, he changed his driveshaft thinking it was that and after that it just wouldnt drive.
