#1: Sell my car as-is or put back to standard? Author: drew, Location: leicestershirePosted: Fri Oct 21, 2011 12:49 pm ---- My 21st is coming up in a couple of weeks time and I've been saving up so think it's about time to move on from the 206, will be sad to see it go.
Thinking about getting an Astra H next probably 1.7 cdti. possibly the sri if the insurance isn't too high.
Wanted peoples opinions on whether it'd be best to strip the 206 back to standard or sell it as it is as a 'gti replica'
it's a 1.4 8v, 99k on the clock, but will probably have reached 100k by the time I come round to selling it. Just had a full new cat and cat back. MOT until July, I think 2 months tax left but could always renew it if it'd help the sale. Had it for 3 years since I think 72k miles, and never really had any problems. Fortunately I grew out of the boy racery/drive like an idiot phase before I bought this so I've always taken good care of it.
now for the mods, most of which can be seen on my progress thread.
307 challenger alloys with essentially new tyres, only covered a few thousand miles, quite good condition a few small marks on two of them, weren't noticeable enough for me to feel the need to refurb them.
Full leather interior. great condition, no tears or anything.
Black masked Crystals and Masked fogs to match.
Front and rear sports bumper with SP grill.
Colour coded bump strips all round.
Gti spoiler.
Gti Leather steering wheel.
6x9s in the parcel shelf (we were all young and uneducated once...)
Ph2 bootstrip.
Dewipered.
I have everything needed for lowering it (40mm springs, new top mounts and new drop links.) but could sell these seperately if they weren't wanted. Just never got round to lowering and figure there's not much point now as it may hinder the sale if I were to put it back to standard.
Painted the centre console gloss black and the vents white.
Think that's about it really.
Sooooo... thoughts, keep it as it is to sell it (which I'd prefer)
or put it back to standard and sell all my bits and bobs?
Also how much do you think would be a suitable price for each option considering the mileage etc.

Author: Lowercase, Location: East SussexPosted: Fri Oct 21, 2011 12:57 pm ---- id say anything that the new owner is gunna have to declare to their insurance should be put back to standard, eg, the alloys, switch for some origionals for that model if you can.
and anything vulgar eg. the white vents that may not be the next owners cup of tea.
bumpers and grills fine, interiors fine, switch the lights for clears if you can, spoilers fine.
put the rear wiper back on, and maybe get hold of a parcel shelf that hasnt got holes in it.

#5: Re: Sell my car as-is or put back to standard? Author: drew, Location: leicestershirePosted: Fri Oct 21, 2011 1:13 pm ---- yeah I was thinking of doing a swaps thread on here, like crystals and fogs for just standard ones. to save someone the trouble of masking them themselves plus would make mine look a bit more oem.
And was gonna do the same with the wheels, perhaps swap for some nimrods or cyclones plus some money my way.
And yeah, even I don't like the white vents so will be spraying them black over the weekend anyways.
Yeah I was just ebaying a un-massacred parcel shelf this second.
Was just wondering if it'd be worth swapping the bumpers and sp grill for non sports plus money my way.
And yeah just looking into how to go about putting a wiper back on. Wish I'd never done it really, was just an annoyance.
With those things done, any ideas what kinda price I should be asking roughly?
