Looks like it.

My housemates clio shows that gauge all the time, it even flashes meaning the oil is below the min but if you check it, it's fine.

The PSA version of the oil level gauge is either totally useless OR pretty good depending on which BSI software version the car in question is running

No need to do anything drastic like that Wink

Oil level gauge will soon find the correct level again after a few starts.

Shall I guess its the typical situation where the old version is best, then they fiddled with it and the new version is rubbish?

Nope, other way round.

Older versions of the 206 BSI software has a few bugs.

Newer versions are pretty much bug free & can also add extra functionally as well like.

Alarm system armed on normal locking not just with deadlocks.
Automatic door locking.
Red flashing alarm led when the immobiliser is armed not just with alarm.

Most likely is other tweaks to but I cant be bothered to remember them all Laughing

that means oil level is fine.
the lines are the lines on your dip stick, if the last line line to the right goes then your 1 fifth of a litre of oil short from being full of oil. look in your hand book.

It doesnt, the boxes are the amount of oil, the oil level in that picture is nearly on the min!

I must have the older bsi software, because my oil level sensor is about as much use as a waterproof teabag! Id get a more acurate reading if i asked a psychic to read some tea leaves and tell me the level!! : Confused

Don't forget you need the BSI update, so your oil sensor will be s**te Wink

Use the dipstick anyway

always use the dip stick mate, only a dip stick wouldnt use a dip stick. them sensors play up all the time., i change the oil evry 5k on my cars so it dont get much chance of running low any way.

Sorry to go off topic, just a quick question about the bsi update, does puegeot automatically update the bsi software if needed when taken in for service or is it something thats needs requesting when booking the car in

Never had any problems with mine unless i park at the top of the drive thats on an incline then it reads a little low but i always check the stick anyways

The lines are NOT the level, RTFM, the box shapes are the amount of oil on the gauge.

As said above, the level indicator in the photo is showing a low level.
