#1: Display lights flashing, no speedo, electricals won't turn Author: heygee, Location: AustraliaPosted: Mon Oct 31, 2011 4:03 am ---- I was driving today when I pulled over quickly and may have turned the key off slightly before the car had stopped (stupid I know but was in a hurry for something). When I got back in the car all of the warning lights stayed on, I had lost the speedo and rev counter as well as the electric oil gauge. The lights still worked and came on automatically when it was dark enough. Indicators worked as well, but no indicator lights came on on the dash. On top of this, a loud beep came through the stereo about every 3-5 seconds- interrupting any music playing. I drove home (it wasn't far) and when I stopped the car all of the lights on the dash refused to turn off. The key I was using was an automatic door opener key but it isn't working (the remote part anyway).
If anybody had any ideas about this I would be most appreciative.

#4: Re: Display lights flashing, no speedo, electricals won't turn Author: heygee, Location: AustraliaPosted: Mon Oct 31, 2011 5:12 am ---- onThanks for that. I shall do this.
I was also thinking it could be the fuses, specifically fuse15, but unless something was drastically wrong in appearance then I wouldn't have a clue if something was wrong.
And just a question as well... the lock button on my key doesn't work- does the reset still work if I don't do the step that involves holding that button down?
Thanks again.

You don't need to do the key procedure. Just reset the BSI by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery following the guide.

When I disconnected the battery, I didn't have any problems with the radio.

Thanks so much!!! Appreciation in spades for your help!

#10: Re: Display lights flashing, no speedo, electricals won't turn Author: davek, Location: SouthamptonPosted: Sun Oct 14, 2012 11:32 am ---- I had a similar problem, I thought I'd cover it here just for reference:
Driving along when suddenly all dials dropped to zero, 'no fuel' light came on as did handbrake light and airbag, pass airbag and ESP(?) lights. No odometer neither.
Engine still ran, lights still worked as did indicators but not the hazards! Drove home slower and did a BSI reset which seems to have cured it - what the long term reveals we shall see!
#11: Re: Display lights flashing, no speedo, electricals won't turn Author: magistar, Location: new zealandPosted: Sun Oct 14, 2012 7:26 pm ---- hmm. I my as well pitch in my experiences with this issue. May be helpful for some people or for future reference as well.
Had the same issues as described with flashing cluster lights and every needle guage not working. In my case it only happened during winter. I also had my passenger airbag deactivating randomly. I know it isn't the wiring under the seat or the switch as I have soldered/replaced them. Have tried resetting bsi numerous times to no avail. During summer everything would work fine.
Got my mechanic to check the car battery and alternator which he said is fine. However I decided to replace it with a bigger battery anyways after finding indications that it may be a power issue especially since it only happens during winter. The battery was getting old anyways (5 years). After replacing the battery both the passenger airbag and instrument cluster issue never came back. As my older battery rating was adequate for the car, it can either be that peugeot is really sensitive to little power dips as my battery was supposed to be all right, or it could be that even though my alternator is working it isn't providing optimal charge. My old battery could start the car fine even with the instrument cluster issue happening.
Just my experience on it.

I have same problem as well, only that all gauge drop and then you can hear the relay clicking and and gauge working again. A bit annoying as it stay the same even i do a reset procedure on BSI and checked alll the fuse.
Another problem seems like my head unit not having enough power (current) to play music probaly. I might need check the earth strap attached to the gearbox today if i am free as I suspect all this problem are related.
Anyone have similar problem in the past can give any advice on this?

I removed the battery and the box yesterday, found a snapped earth cable on that suppose to be wired to the body. The main reason that it snapped off mainly because of the cable is too short and it suffer constant vibration movement between the gearbox and the car body.
Instead of buying a new earth cable, i just soldered the wire back together, cover it with electric insulation black pvc tape. It took me about 20 minutes for the whole job and would rate it a 2 spanner job.
The car is now working fine and i just been to a 150 miles trip.
