#1: 1998 1.1 206 rev issue Author: CD-B3, Location: Salisbury / New Forest PostPosted: Fri Nov 11, 2011 3:29 am

Got more issues with this car, well they hadn't gone really.

I changed the ICV myself & reset the ECU and it was slightly better.

My friend took it to a garage (bit of a backsteet place from what I've heard) as it still had issues, I told her that it's most likely the MAP sensor so tell the garage that.

Now she doesn't know what they did/replaced as she knows nothing about cars, not sure if she even got an invoice Confused

The MAP sensor looks like it may have been replaced or cleaned.
Though she's still having the same trouble with the car.

Could it be anything else?

That would help Laughing

The revs either fluxuate or the car dies (sounds a lot like ICV to me but the one on there was brand new 500 miles ago)

Coolant temp sensor working ok? TU sensors are a known failure point.

Cleaned the silicone grease of the ecu connectors? Another PSA c**k up Laughing

Throttle cable adjusted correctly?

Fuel & air filters ok?

Bosch spark plugs fitted?

Bouricord OR Electrofil coil pack?

Coil pack earth wire mod fitted?

Throttle cable adjusted correctly? Yes

Fuel & air filters ok? - New filters less than 500 miles ago.

Bosch spark plugs fitted? - Yes.

Bouricord OR Electrofil coil pack? - Unsure

Coil pack earth wire mod fitted? - What's this?

Ah good call there.

I noticed this morning that the fan was running when she shut the car off. The temp was at 90 degrees, so optimal.

Coil pack wiring mod is Peugeot / Citroen part number 6555 K9 suppresor & its fitted beween pin 4 on the coil pack connector plug & earth.

Last time I checked price on that part it was less then £6.

I would check / clean the ecu connectors, wash all the silicone grease out if it hasnt been done already.

So since the fan stayed on you think its most likely the coolant temp sensor?

Could well be, ecu could think the engine is warmer then it should be & adjusts the fuel mixture the wrong way.

Whats it run like when the engine is warmed up?

I've never driven the car so I don't know Laughing

From what I saw of it this morning the exhaust sounded quite bassy like when on auto-choke (you know what I mean) and the exhaust is standard.

Is the exhaust system ok?

Any blowing can upset the ecu managment & running of the engine.

I'll give the car a good look over this weekend.

Pretty sure the exhaust wasn't blowing though.
