#1: she runs but......... Author: NorthantsBen, Location: Raunds, NorthamptonshirePosted: Mon Nov 14, 2011 9:31 am ---- got car running weekend, fitted new headgasket and had head skimmed. due to headgasket had gone when i got it.
only problem now is when it was running today looked into the the header tank and it had a horrible top layer.........
my question is..... is possible its just residue left in the system / radiator ? car came with no water in it, probably due to the radiator has leaks as i found out today
here is a pic of the oil on the dipstick looks fine to me (minus the bit of dirt on there somehow ) ????????
thanks
ben

Author: DavidPCoates, Location: UKPosted: Mon Nov 14, 2011 10:09 am ---- Did running the car presurize the expansion tank, if not id say system is sealed and possibly ok, what colour is the inside of the oild filler cap, if not white yucky, again a good sign that the oil system is clean. Certainly looks clean from dipstick, so I think its probably is residue. Drain water and flush and refill, and obviously keep an eye on it

A couple of NON bio washing powder / dishwasher tablets or a decent scoop cleans out cooling systems brilliantly.
It MUST be NON bio!

Ideal time to flush the cooling system out then
