Removal of resitor pack
-> 206 Problems

#1: Removal of resitor pack Author: djaydearz, Location: UK PostPosted: Tue Nov 15, 2011 7:02 am

I have a 2002 206 1.4lx

My heating fan only works on level 4. After numerous posts. It seems a common thing when the resistor is knackered.

How on earth to you obtain the thing? I have read a few ways but which is the easiest/correct

1) Take glove box off and remove blower motor (i could not get the blower motor to budge for love nor money, i removed 1 central screw from it but can not see anyother screws) difficult as i can barley get my hands in there

2) Slide the ventalation switch to "ciruclation" this allows me to see the resistor (if i lie with my head near the peddles) but it is to high up/behind to many things to reach)

3) Take the top of the dash board off somehow

Thanks for readings

James

You twist the motor, no screws holding it in.

there was a screw in the centre (whether that holds it in place i wasn't sure) however no matter how hard i twist it wont open. which made me think something holding it in. but perhaps i just need to get a better grip somehow!
thanks

Yes there is one screw in the centre, but not necessary to remove it.

Twist it, hard.

I forget which direction, think it's anti-clockwise.

Thanks for this just had to use more force to get it out!

Now just got to determine whether its the resistor or the motor itself. They book look ok though with no obvious signs. Tried a bit of WD40...didnt work...hopefully thinking really! Very Happy

Hi djaydearz,
My P206 is 1,9D, 1999.
I have the same problem with my fan - works only on 4. I removed the glovebox but could not reach up to the resistor. Can you please tell me how you managed to get to the resistor.

the resistors on most cars usualy have a bridge of solder across the contacts on the inner workings if you or someone can upload pics i might be able tell if that is the problem, dealers say they are throw away non repairable but they can be if you get it right, big problem on smarts (which i modded until this year) but fixable
