confused as the footwell LED's go offonce the doors are shut but the sidelights dont yet there connected the same way

Just fit one of these and connect it up to the battery before you leave the car. You'll be able to spot where you parked from even further away.

And yes you can easily get a multimeter in there. +12v on the sidelight circuit would turn the ignition on, so you need to protect with a diode.
On my 206 and 307 if you push the lock button when the cars locked the amber lights flash. That's how I find my car in a car park lol I thought that's what it was for lol
Interior light will comes on as well

Flash main beam after removing ignition key will put the dipped headlamps on for 30 seconds.

4 pin relay - switch and +12v pins to a constant +12v, output to sidelights, earth to BSI earth. Protect existing circuit with diodes
