For every 10 degrees reduction in temperature you need 3% more fuel so cold weather isn't going to make much difference.

Sound a bit of a pansy if you cry over fuel consumption Rolling On The Floor Laughing

33 mpg average is perfectly fine for the conditions I make my TU3 operate under Wink

Get your foot down and have fun, unless your a "tree hugger" dont worry about such things as MPG. Between 10-14 MPG when hoofing round town for me Wink

Summer temps are around 15-20 degrees, Current temp 0-5 degrees
there's 3% more fuel atleast there Wink
I'm sure that will give around 3-5mpg worse off!!

Drive it and enjoy it. If you want an economical car then you need to buy a) a diesel or b) a brand new Eco car.

If it has had a good service and tyre pressure are correct and your driving style is perfectly Eco then there is nothing else you can do.

Mattie- 5% more fuel used. At 27mpg = 1.35mpg less = 25.65mpg Wink

I drive a 138 and I get between 32 and 37 mpg.

I know a GTI isn't one of the most economical cars out there but 27 mpg still is very poor - if driven softly! So in my opinion there's either something wrong with the car or with the style of driving... Wink

I always averaged 30mpg in mine. So 27mpg if doing slower roads or shorter runs is expected.

To be fair if I drive with economy in mind I average 36mog from the tank. That's never redlining it for fun, maybe the odd overtake.

I get about 30mpg from my gt tdi, I feel as though driving costs a fortune no matter how you drive so I just like to enjoy it if i'm forking out for all of the costs.
