#1: Help with abs problem! I'm nearly stuck, now. Author: crocdino, Location: Leeds PostPosted: Thu Dec 15, 2011 12:39 pm

Few weeks ago the abs/ESP light came on..

Turned out was a cracked ring in the near side, had this replaced and was all good for a week.

Light flashed up again then so took it for diagnostics and it was showing the same side. So this time replaced the sensor. All fixed and no problems for another week..

Now it's flashed up again!!! I've not been for diagnostics (yet) but I'm assuming it could be the same side that's already had new ring/sensor.. So I've checked all wiring and from what can see its fine.

I'm going to go get it diagnosed in the next few days and see where the problem is.

The only thing I can think now is the O/S ring, there's no crack in it but it is really corroded so much so the teeth are hardly in any shape.

Could it be possible that as each side may be reading slightly different as ones brand new and they others knackard - could this be throwing the fault?

It briefly cleared today. When i parked it up I tried to clean up the old ring, when set off again it threw the fault! And I've only touched that old ring in the meantime.

Same number of teeth on each ring? Takes some pictures of the corroded ring.

Yeah same number of teeth.. Whenever I've replaced somethin it's worked fine for a week or so! So the ring is correct.

I'll get some pics of the old ring tomorrow and post.! To be fair the ring is that out of shape it could throw a fault... I don't see how it could read anything like the same as the new one!

I had something similar to this with my 180, turned out to be a broke wire to the abs sensor.

Where abouts was the broken wire? I'm assuming it wasn't to the NS sensor? As there's only a few inches of visible wire before the actual bit of wire to the sensor?

The sensor on the OS looks A LOT harder to get to.. but there must be a wire running to that from the NS? Is that where it was broke?

Any direction of where i can look is appreciated.
