My clutch has the clutch rattle, which i know is the bearing, but i also have a high biting point, and clutch judder when pulling away. Is my clutch worn, or is it a sign of more trouble.

Also, is it easy to replace? I dont mind doing it myself, can take the car off the road for as long as it takes. Its hydraulic operated, if that makes a difference.

GTi 138 2004.

On my sport my clutch makes a sound in neutral and when a gear is engaged but if the clutch pedal is fully pressed in the noise goes. - I also have a very high biting point!

I had it looked at by Peugeot garage when I had my fanbelt changed (it was cracked all over). They said that my clutch release bearing is going/gone.

You get a new one included with the clutch kit.

They can sound dodgy for a while before they give up.

Yeah I know :). Thanks! Got no funds to fix it at the moment and what's more fun is my car battery is no longer holding charge Soo I have to buy a new one of those too!!!

Would the bearing going cause the high bite point and clutch judder though? Also, does the hydraulic box make it a harder job than the cable type?

I'd be guessing so! If your clutch pedal has little travel then I would hink the gears are not being selected properly. That's my own theory btw! Have a look on eurocarparts for clutch kit to see the price they sell them at. Then you are looking for fitting (150-300)

Mine was doing this right before the clutch went, when i got it to the garage the clutch was pretty much gone i was having to jam my foot into the carpet just to get it to go in gear only difference was mines a 1.4 and cable clutch. When i went to pick up the car, the guy showed me my old one and it/the bearings were pretty much destroyed.

My clutch lasted 4k once one of the bearings started making noises and that was gentle driving so if your gentle and not pulling away like a boyracer it should last a while till you can afford a new one.

Without the engine running i can hear a squeek when i press the clutch. I'll just have to change the clutch soon i think.
