#1: Is it ok to do this?? Author: fatboyslim, Location: Lincolnshire,Home of the RAFPosted: Tue Feb 28, 2012 6:40 am ---- Ok just read this on another forum...
"...these modern cars have Computers inside them, not just sensors and relays.... these computers are not much different from your Home PC or Laptop, meaning, that they can think and make choices depending on the information coming in, they then learn from it and make changes, Untill sometimes they start to get confused and jammed up...or just stuck in a never ending routine, and so nothing works untill its finished.
Like a Web Page freezing or a Sat-nav re-calculating a route-gettiing confused and crashing.
As usual its up to us Humans to Stop em in their tracks and reset them going again.
Try this 1st...
the basic reseting methods for the BSi and Body control computer,.. find internal fuse box, locate & remove the large 'SH' shunt fuse (its the comps main in feed, and the Comp' will run down and stop) WAIT 30 Minutes..... then put it back in .
shut and Lock the car, and WAIT 30 mins.... (it will do its re boot and should restore to defalutls mode) and then go to sleep..
hopefully you should now be starting back at the Factory settings for almost everything.
just re-programme the Radio channels & Clocks...... DONE....""
Is it ok to do this or not?
is it recommended by PUG?
cheers guys

#3: Re: Is it ok to do this?? Author: JordGJ, Location: Leeds / West MidlandsPosted: Tue Feb 28, 2012 11:33 am ---- are there any advantages of resetting the ecu/bsi? as long as everything is working properly? I don't see why you would do it if nothing was wrong :/
