GTI 180 + gti 138

Its probably on here somewhere but i couldnt find it, what is different for them to have 180bhp? or is it a totally different engine, can u get a gti 138 upto 180 easily?

They were never supposed to have 180bhp, it was 177bhp; but on average they have 160-165bhp.

And no you can't gain the 30-40bhp cheaply.

Compression ratio is 10.7:1 vs 11:1 as well off the top of my head [EW10J4 vs EW10J4S]

Off the top of my head its:

- Slightly tweaked cylinder head for better flow
- Different inlet and exhaust manifolds to improve flow
- Compression ratio
- VVT

had my 180 on a RR today and was 171 thats with a piper x filter and a janspeed pipe so all in all quite happy with them results.

No they weren't as most car manufacturer refer to power in either PS or most widely used now in KW
So 180PS is 177.6BHP or 132.4KW
